Traveling Raw

All,
New, but I totally dig the way I feel when I eat raw, live raw. I'm concerned, however, about an upcoming trip I'm taking on the company dime to Villahermosa, Mexico. How can a raw chica survive? I am planning on carrying a cutting board, 2 knives, some containers, and a veggie peeler on the trip and visitng the nearest market, organic or no. That can handle breakfast and lunch for sure. But any tips for eating out with clients south of the border would be much appreciated. And yup, I get skip the tequila margaritas. That one I'm not worried about. Montezuma, on the other hand...
Thanks, and have a terrific week.
Jen.

Jen, if you are very new to raw, if I were you my very first concern would be with not getting any weird bacteria. If you had been eating all raw for a while then you could risk getting sick just by going cooked again, but being new the most important thing to do is not to eat any fruit that was handled by humans without washing it in bottled water and then peeling it and drinking nothing but bottled water. I got into trouble when I drank something with ice by accident. I met a couple there that said they survived mostly on oranges and avocadoes because of the thick skins. They ate those the whole trip and felt great. If you are on a business trip you will probably have your meals in high-end hotels and such and that is the most important. No big hotel wants to have sick guests and they take more precautions. If you really want to eat all raw while you're there, there's always guacamole for those meals!

Buen Viejo!

Greenbunny,
Thanks for your advice. I'll let you know how it went when I get back in mid-Nov.
Cheers,
Jen.
