Cheesy Totally RAW for 24 hours!

Hi Everyone!

I have never felt better... 100% RAW food for 24hrs + Bikram Yoga= bliss!!! My goal in going totally raw is to increase my vitality. Some days I can't seem to stay awake! I crash on the couch and can't seem to move. Slowly I have been increaing my intake of live food- lurking on this board- and today I just did it! And actually feel alive- no slumps, and my yoga practice was FUN!

I am very lucky to belong to an organic farm food co-op... Picked up a basket of yummy fruits and veggies today and dove in! This is all newish to me- but the boards are a great inspiration. Also, I am waiting for my new book to arive... Living on Live Food

I do have a burning question- Does freezing damage the awesome enzymes in raw food?

Well, I am off to the other boards to find out what to do with the goodies in my basket!!!

I am amazed how easy it is to stay RAW!
I notice I am drinking more water and eating more simply (I only have a plain old blender)
I am picking up a champion juicer on Tues (thanks freecycle.org) and a dehydrator is on my holiday list... but I am still finding joy in eating a fresh organic fruit or veggie in its pure form ...
See you on the forums!

Congratulations!!

I have been a constant 100% for two days; and I m doing pretty well with dealing with jetlag. I haven't gone to BK in like a week and my body is beginning to crave it! (=

Welcome Home Anisha! I'm assuming that you are back from Australia???

MamaSutras - Freezing does not harm enzymes. I buy frozen fruit to make smoothies with and it's incredibly easy and just as or even more nutrtitious than cutting up regular fruit. When they take fresh fruit to freeze it is usually picked much later than the fruit for shipping and hence you have more tree and vine ripened fruit when it's frozen and it is frozen at it's peak of ripeness.

Freezing your own fruits and veggies also makes life much simpler and makes for much less waste. It's also cheaper because you can buy in bulk.

The only thing is that in winter you don't want to eat too much cold only stuff - even if you are in sunny Cal. You would never for instance want to eat all frozen drinks unless you were out in the hot sun all day in high temps. for balance.

I usually have one cold smoothies in the middle of the day when the sun is shining and it's warmest out.

Congratulations on both or your successes!!!!

Hi there,

Great job on your health journey!

Not sure if enzymes are destroyed by freezing but some nutrients may be compromised in the process. Also have read about not using too hot or too cold foods due to affecting the intestines with production of B12.

Some veggies may have been blanched before freezing so they are not technically raw, although as GB said, sometimes the frozen fruits and veggies seem to be "fresher" than the ones off the grocery shelves.

We still use frozen fruits, mainly for availability and convenience though.
