Here are some things that might help with
getting off coffee and caffeine...This was the hardest thing for me to give up, so I can empathize
Basic nut milk recipe at the bottom.
Try any or all of the following suggestions:
Drink cold-pressed coffee, made with a Toddy Maker. This still isn ??t Raw, but it ??s much less acidic than regularly brewed coffee. In the scheme of things, this is better than regular coffee. Use this as a stepping stone on your way to eliminating coffee from your life. You can find these machines online or at Border ??s bookstores. (People with acid problems report doing better with cold-pressed coffee)
Drink green juices, including wheat grass, which will help alkalize your blood and reduce cravings for coffee and caffeine. Add carrot juice to the mix, as well.
Drink fresh squeezed orange juice in the morning to give yourself some Raw energy instead of stimulated energy from caffeine.
Drink Teecino ? which is herbal coffee. Again, this is better than regular coffee and can help transition you away from coffee.
Set a schedule for yourself. Decide a plan of attack for eliminating coffee from your diet and write it on your calendar and do it gradually...by using less caffeine, mixing with decaf, then using teas, green teas, to herbal teas.
Remember, part of the addiction can be the experience (going to a cafe or wrapping your hands around a big, warm mug), so look for ways to replicate the experience without the caffeine. Find new places and new cafes and wrap your hands around a big mug of green smoothie or warm herbal tea.
Hope this helps
Nut milk
The creamiest milk will come from using soaked cashews, pine nuts, brazil nuts or macadamia nuts. My personal favorite recipes combine "half" of one of the aforementioned nuts and the other half coming from soaked pecans, walnuts, sesame seeds, hemp nuts, or almonds. The recipe here will
not call for sweetening the nut milk. If you desire a sweeter milk (which I do), then add 1-2 pitted dates or 1-2 Tablespoons agave.
1 cups nuts, soaked 6-8 hours, drained and rinsed
3 cups water
pinch Himalayan crystal salt, optional
Blend all of the ingredients until smooth and creamy and enjoy. For an extra creamy texture, strain the milk through a nut milk bag. Nut milks freeze quite well, too!
