A newbie in Sydney

I am living in Sydney till the end of this year woul appreciate it if any other raw foodists out there would recommend any places for me to shop. The coles near my place does not have much variety of greens.

Anyways, I am 90% raw foodist. I started last Saturday and have been doing well. I just quit food - cold turkey, for the most part and don't want to go back. However, I do have some questions for anyone who can answer them:

1. It is winter here, so how do you get around from eating hot food to keep warm?

2. I have noticed that in the middle of the night I have to wake up and use the bathroom. It disturbs my sleep. Am I eating the wrong foods at night? Any tips.

3. We have a blender and it is cheap. None of the chunks get fully blended? I don't want to invest in an expensive one cause I am here for less than 5 months, but are there any good quality blenders? Or should I just add more water?

4. Is there any place to buy dehydrated food?

5. Does it ever get easy to tell friends? I am nervous because most of my friends eat non-vegetarian food and I did a week ago, but not any more. I have been thinking about become vegan for some time now, however, there is just too much temptation for me to be vegan to go back among other reasons. I began eating raw because my body, finally told me that it has had enough and wants a healthier lifestyle.

Thanks to everyone that reads this and comments on this!

So far I have enjoyed this week of eating almost all raw. I am really proud of myself.

Hey Anisha,
I live in Sydney too, & I go to Harris Farm markets, there are a few around, & they have a huge range.
I live in Bondi Junction & there's a Macro Wholefoods were there's a big range of organic stuff.
So it depends where you live & if you're after organic or not.
There are a few organic farmers markets around as well.

To have warm food, I blend vegies, & add water, to turn into a soup, & then warm up on the stove. Keeping it under 50*C, so that its warm but not cooking it.

Hi!

There has been much discussion about raw foods and winter on the site. Search "winter".

If you add enough water even a real cheap blender can make smoothies. If you add ice that might be a problem. You might want to try it with less ice if you do use ice.

Congratulations on making the leap.

Thanks. Haha, I just bought a new blender that can handle nuts and all that other stuff. I have noticed that more water works though!

Zen, I live in Pyrmont and have been trying to search for organic places. Not much here in Sydney. Do you know of any raw restuarants in or around Sydney? It feels nice to know that there is someone else here in Sydney that is a conscious health eater!
