new and skeptical

i just read Raw Food Life Force Energy and I'm just having a little trouble digesting some of the information.

I guess my biggest issue is that some of the most widely held dietary advice out there talks about the importance of protein, especially at breakfast, yet in this book it says that you should only drink vegetable juice and eat fruit in the morning.

does anyone think that this diet could produce a protein deficiency?

There is so much protein in eating raw.
My personal way of eating raw is using my own internal guidance system that tells me what is good in what moment. Depends on the day, how I feel, what the weather is, lots of factors are playing a roll in what your body wants and needs.
I personally do not read any of the advice that is out there in the world because it all says something else and they always come up with new and contradictionairy info.
I learn to listen to my own body in any given moment and that works the best for me.

Protein is not an issue at all if you do want to look at that.

Everybody is different. All any book, or any of us, can do is provide information about why eating raw (at least 50%) is helpful, and how we individually go about it.

Some people here swear by bananas every day, but they make me bonkers and depressed. Some poeple only have fruit for breakfast - that doesn't work for me, I need vegetables. Many people here get adequate protien from what they're doing - I need to add more.

I agree with what Starshower says - there is a lot of protien in vegetables, fruit, grains, beans, rice, nuts and seeds, so it's entirely possible to get all your protien from a raw diet.

Personally, I can't handle the taste of sprouted beans, so in my breakfast salad I add tofu. I could eat more nuts and seeds, but I want to keep my nut and seed consumption down. I eat some sprouted grains, and am working to get more of them into my diet. I also eat raw hemp protien powder.

The thing is, in raw form our body can take better advantage of ALL the nutrition in the foods, so you can eat less and be fine. For instance Gabriel Cousens says that while the standard thought is adults need 70 grams protien (in cooked form), on a raw vegan diet people only need about half, about 35 grams, and that's exceedingly easy to get in a raw vegan diet.

But again, everyone is different - I have to get closer to 100 grams protien because of the healing challenges my body is undergoing - which would be fine, if only I liked sprouted beans ....

So if you're "typical" then you can get all your nutritional needs met through a raw vegan diet (but be sure to find a source for Vitamin B-12 - that's one of those things you kind of have to make a point to include, whereas everything else happens naturally if you eat a wide variety of foods).
