Not yet raw, with reservations

Hi everyone,
I'm delighted to have found this forum
I have dipped my toes into raw food before and loved it but I have crohn's disease and find I need to avoid grains, pulses, nuts and seeds as they are way too hard on my digestive system. Although by choice I would be vegan, I find I need to incorporate fish into my diet and this works pretty well. Instinctively though I want to be raw, but I'm worried about the nuts and seeds. Even ground or pureed I can't tolerate them, so any ideas on how I could transition to raw would be gratefully appreciated
Anyways, look forward to talking to you folks!
Cheers
Lara

my first thought would be to soak the nuts, walnuts and almonds over night, this makes them easier to digest, also you could make nutmilks by soaking 1cup of almonds or sunflower seeds and then blend them with 2 cups water, add some raw honey if you like. You can do the same with sesame seeds just grind them and blend no need to soak, it is an exellent source of calcium. You may find that with a long term raw diet your crohn's disease cures itself. I just recently adviced my friend with crohn's on a raw diet and she is doing great. Good luck, Kymberly

I don't believe nuts and seeds are required to be on raw, that there are other raw ways to get the nutrients in those foods.

I also agree that sprouting might be easier.

Just take some nuts, soak them for 8-12 hours in 3 parts filtered water to 1 part nuts, then drain them and let them sit for another 12-24 hours. (I prefer to let them sit for 24 hours.)

Then you can eat them & store them in the fridge.

Try that and see if it makes a difference.

Like Kymberly said, I also have heard about many diseases (including crohn's disease) being cured with a raw food diet - and again, eating pulses, seeds and nuts are not required. There are many other things to eat!
