Namaste
Hola,
I am from Guatemala, Central America, and it is good to join a group of pro-rawfoodist, here in my country is very rare, and probably here are no more than a docen of rawfood people at the moment. More dificult to find a whole rawfoodist family, as we are.
I have questions since we became on a raw vegan diet, close to one year and a half. We also have been vegans for about 5 to 6 years. But, had not the chance to meet or chat with alike way of thinking, and until now I have a internet option.
Hope to share our experiences with others...
Saludos,
Orca

Hello Orca,
I'm new here too, but I can still welcome another new person to the forum!
It's wonderful that you have been vegan for so long, and raw for a year and a half. What is the typical Guatemalan diet?
I am only finishing my first week into a 70% raw diet, so I'm sure I can learn a lot from you. I hope you jump right in!

Hola Renee,
Welcome to you too...
It really has been great to be on this path, even that I have past throw so many ungreating detox episodes, but still never had the idea to abandom this way. And here is something that a sure can give you a massage: all the problems you can experience are part of a great detox work of you body, and that will depend on how your body was and react, and is real diferent on each person.
About the diet in Guatemala, is preaty much alike probably of what your diet is in Canada, a lot of dairy, eggs, all tipe of meat, some vegetable, but not to much, a lot of sugar, fats and white bread an pasta, sodas, beer and rum... Similar to a mexican diet, about...
I encourage you to be on this "fare diet" path, that will give you what you want and a lot more, beleave me.
Namaste,
Juan
PS sorry for my spelling and english. Have a nice day.

Hey, no worries about spelling and English! I'm glad for the opportunity to meet you here!
Yes, I can feel a big difference already after finishing my first week, and I'm at 70% raw not 100%. I haven't had detox yet that was truly awful, except for a wicked migraine on the evening of the first day. I'm just going to ride it out as it comes - after all, I have all kinds of negative symptoms because of overeating on the standard diet. The detox symptoms are actually positive to me. They will pass, and they will take the other symptoms with them! I can be strong through some detox, yes!
I can't see myself abandoning this way of eating either. I finally found what feels right. I'm making sure that I'm balancing my diet from the start - being careful not to fall into the trap of too many fats even on a raw diet, and ensuring that I have plenty of greens, fruits, and other vegetables. I'm keeping a daily food log so I can go back and see what changes might need to be made and so I can make sure that I am truly eating 70% raw. I'm also keeping a blog so I can have a place to journal from day one.
It seems quiet here on these boards...I hope someone else comes to welcome you soon too, Juan! You are a good role model for us here.
