Laughing New to forum and raw lifestyle

Hello everyone,

I wanted to do a proper intro before jumping into the forums here. I'm Renee from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. I'm on my fifth day of 70% raw and I'm looking forward to meeting other people here.

My husband, Chris, and I moved from Calgary to Lethbridge in April to manifest the life we really want in a smaller city. We share our apartment with our beloved 16 year old cat, Mickey.

So far everything has gone really well with the transition to raw. My body was quite honestly just ready to do it. I've not dealt with cravings or anything yet...my body is just really happy! It's already starting to clear out some of the excesses.

For my own focus, I'm not much interested in dehydrated food or in things like raw pizza and lasagna that mimic the things that got me into this overweight, unbalanced place. I don't want those things anymore. I'm wanting to explore all the options for eating primarily vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds in their natural forms.

Anyway, it's nice to be here and I hope to make some new online friends. I'd also appreciate it if anyone can share an online raw food store that is based in Canada. I would love to order from Nature's First Law or others, but I have to deal with import duties and fees that way.

Renee

Hey Renee,

Glad to have you here. for eating primarily vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds in their natural forms, that's what I do! Basicly because I'm lazy but I think it's a good idea to because of what the body's has evolved to.

*grinning* Thanks for the welcome!

Eating in natural forms is just what I'm drawn to. I guess I've just struggled with my weight for long enough that I'm over my desire for things like pizza and lasagna, so I don't want to create raw substitutes.

I don't know that doing it this way is lazy though - it takes me about half an hour to cut my salads because I throw a big variety of things in there!

Greetings, Renee!

It's really admirable that you are transitioning so easily into the raw. Keep us updated on how you're doing and good luck!

Thank you, mork! I started a blogspot site (mainly for my own tracking) to document the raw journey. There's a link to it in my profile. I have a friend who is a certified life coach who told me that I should make daily commitments and write how it felt when I did or did not meet them. That will be on there (updated weekly), my motivation for going raw is on there, and anything else that comes up will go there as well.

My fairly easy transition to raw can actually be attributed to reaching my breaking point with my former diet. I've gained 20 pounds since August 2005, eating a lot of heavy cooked food. I have struggled with nausea on a daily basis as my body tells me that it doesn't want that food anymore.

I got to my highest-ever weight and then something just went off inside me and said enough. It's been easy to adjust to this diet because I'd had more than enough of the other food, and because my body isn't constantly nauseous anymore.

It's definitely time for me to do this...took me long enough to get here...I'm 35!

I'm glad there are places like this, Raw Reform, and Raw Family to go to for guidance.

Renee

Weird Raw in Pittsburgh is rough!

Hi everyone! I am new to raw, and really decided to join this site to find advice and support. I'm a path resident at a busy medical center, and my husband is quite carnivorous, and although I've seen lots of advice on seeking out other raw people, I think there must be maybe like 2 at most in this city (although maybe more, since my local co-op has started carrying a lot more raw snacks). I've been vegetarian for about 2 years, and considered being vegan, but it was hard because my husband is supportive, but only to a point. But then I discovered raw, and it really does make sense, but there are some bumps in the road (for me - I guess some people make the transition more easily) and so I was hoping I could get some advice from others.

My main issues are that I love carbs! And I get super hungry during the day, but try to make a point to eat organic, and so it can be hard toting enough snacks. Also, I am so busy, so it can be hard to make more complicated meals that require dehydration, etc. I guess these kinks all get worked out in time.

Thanks for any help you can offer!
