Smile Anemia

Hello,
I have been having problems with anemia and impared immune system. Just feeling run down and depressed..i am presently lacto-vegetarian (12 years). I have been trying to introduce more raw food into my diet and have even thought of trying 100% raw for a few months to see how I feel. I am having some difficulty with what foods to eat to build blood. Right now I am eating a lot of beets and kale! I am a bit concerned that the detox effect of 100% raw will have a negative effect on my immune system. My blood count (red and white) has been up and down for 3 years since my son was born. I've been to alopathic specialists, allergists and naturopaths and all types of natural healers. I practice yoga regularly and still am struggling to maintain my health.
If any raw foodists are reading this maybe you can offer me some advice. Do you think that I should transition to a raw food diet gradually ? what are the most beneficial foods for building red blood and supporting immunity?
Thank you for your support,
meb

Hi Meb,

Yes, I think you should gradually add more raw food into your diet, eventually you will be %100. The best raw foods for building red blood cells are dried fruits, like apricots, prunes, and raisins, lentils and beans green leafy vegetables, like spinach and broccoli. Also Eat/drink foods that help your body absorb iron, like orange juice, strawberries, broccoli, or other fruits and vegetables with vitamin C. Soaked nuts, seeds, sprouts and seaweeds have iron as well.

i think its the cow milk in the diet

including milk products would probably play havoc on your hormones making you prone to depression. cheese will stop you up and that can cause a myriad of health problems. the calcium present in dairy - some studies have shown - too much can prevent you from properly absorbing iron in foods...they are both considered metals and are hard to digest by themselves and when they have to compete with each other, one has to lose. I was anemic for many years, i drop cows milk and i no longer was anemic. Changing to raw gradually is the best for you. this way the detox will be minimal and you'll notice energy and immune boosts in no time!
