Amused Hey

hey Im Don and Im totally new to the raw food diet, I only heard about it about 2-3 hours ago and have been watching peoples succes on youtube, I have a general idea what foods to eat but I was wondering if there was some kinda guide?
I want to start asap but not sure what to eat because i saw a video that said not to eat potatoes?
If anyone could help me with what foods to eat that would be great!

It's really easy don,

First week to a month add a big salad as a meal to your diet of things that are not cooked even if you add on some cooked food to it at first. At the same time get rid of any real garbage that you eat/drink like sodas, coffee, icecream, sugary things like cake etc. If you eat like an average American this will be a big change getting rid of the junk and adding a salad. Even if you don't eat junk, just add one big salad meal a day and see how it affects you. It's better to change one thing at a time so you can evaluate the results and so we can help you. If you eat a lot of junk food, then you should take more months at this first stage perhaps three of four getting rid of one nasy thing at a time. Some people need to take a year or two just getting off the sugar, caffeine, sodas and fried foods and that's ok.

Then the next month add a smoothie. Take a banana, strawberries, blueberries and maybe some mango, papaya or pineapple and blend it up with water in a blender and drink that some time during the day or have a big helping of fruit or fruit salad during the day. Later on you can start to experiment with your mix of fruit as you like, but this mix most people like so that's why I suggest it.

Just do that and you are half way there!

During those two months hang out here with us reading, asking questions and maybe picking a book or two that some of the folks talk about here if you like.

If you go slower like this then you will avoid most nasty detox symptoms and make this lifestyle a habit. You will also be able to determine what foods your body likes and which one's it doesn't by changing one food at a time. It is a gentle and very easy way to make the transition that you can do immediately.

Salmon and tuna can be eaten raw like sushi and in this form, if put in a salad, would then be raw. There is a lox (smoked salmond) that you can buy that is "Cold Smoked". That is also raw because the smoke is at low temperatures so the salmond does not cook.

You can sometimes get sushi grade salmon, tuna, yellowtail etc. in fish stores that provide special sushi grade fish. This fish has to be handled differently than fish that will be cooked. It has to be kept frozen during delivery and in storage and after it is defrosted it has to be eaten very quickly. The place that you buy the fish from will have instructions.

The cold smoked salmon is different. It will last a while like lox.

Then you can go to a Japanese restaurant and order sashimi and that is plain raw fish.

But since you are just starting out, if your first step is to add raw veggies while eating some cooked fish with it at fist to transition into getting more raw veggies in your diet that's ok. Eventually, you will want to get that fish raw to make it all raw though.
