Coming out the Other Side of a Viscious Detox!!

Hello All,

I am happy to find a place to share this experience where others will be interested. I have returned to raw for the 5th or 6th time in my life - this time with absolutely no reservations, no concern for what others think, no agendas to bring others - including my boyfriend along...it is between my higher power and me. I guess each time I tried I broke through another barrier.

I am just coming out the other side of about 4 weeks of viscious detoxing. During this time my stomach got so inflamed - that I couldn't even fit in my clothes. My exercising fell apart and I am a very dedicated runner and spinning instructor. I got in trouble at work for being out of it and I am seeing more clearly what it not working in my life.

Now that I am coming out the other side, it is incredible. My stomach area hasn't looked this young and beautiful in years. My spirit is higher than ever and my energy and brain functioning are coming back strong.

I don't have a goal for percentage of raw, but what I have been doing is eating 90-100% raw on the weekends and 75% - 80% on week days when it is a little harder for me. Last weekend after a raw dinner Friday night and 2 full days of raw Saturday and Sunday, I entered a deep phase of my detox. I felt good on Monday but by Tuesday, it was like I was in a deep state of toxic poisoning. I had Reiki on Friday night and that seemed like it got some energy flowing. By Saturday night I was feeling better. Today, I am starting to feel the rewards.

It is tough to watch my boyfriend cooking meat and eating cheese and this is going to test our relationship, but I can not turn back.

I feel so much love today for people who are truly doing this. I will be off to buy my food shortly and re-stock for another week of raw. I hope I am up to running tonight. My spirit needs to get back out there!

Love to all of you, Maria

Hi - thanks for sharing - it's inspiring to hear about someone who has returned to raw for the 5th or 6th time and has not given up. I have done the same thing (tried going raw many times) and have felt like such a failure. It's nice to have found a place where I can actually talk about being raw and know that there are other people interested in it. I think just this, being able to share with others, is what will finally make a difference and keep me on the raw path. I know what you mean about watching other people eat cooked food and how hard that can be. I prepare most of the food that my family eats and it's hard making them cooked food and then trying to eat only raw food. I'm hoping that the better I get at preparing raw food, the more they'll want to share it with me. In the meantime, though, it's a struggle. Good luck and many blessings! -Sunshine

That's great that you are noticing some benefits! Since I've been raw I don't even care if someone is eating cooked food. It's just their choice and I don't crave that addiction anymore. I totally know what you mean by it being hard to have to prepare cooked meals and eat raw. Now that you are feeling better it will get easier and easier.

Thumbs up Update

I am feeling much better. I was able to to an easy bike ride last night and a little bit more challenging one tonight without any problem.

I incorporated some new raw superfoods into my shake today - Goji Berry, Cocao, and Maca to help keep my strength for my workouts.

I am not 100% recovered but I am well on my way. That detox was something else. I am definitely in a different place personally after going through that. My head and my thinking are really clear.

I'm encouraged to continue!!

Good Vibes to everyone out there trying to make it happen.

I am going to NYC for my birthday and look forward to eating at Quintessence and Caravan of Dreams - 2 awesome restaurants catering to us rawbies.
