and we're off!!
So its about 1:05pm here....and I am in the middle of my first breakfast as a raw girl....hehe
I started off with a banana....now having pineapple and an apple with a cutie to top it off....
Following the concepts set forth in The Raw Food Detox Diet book... all raw fruit for breakfast... I am going to spend the day (glad to have it off) ....re-reading some of the chapters and watching some DVD boxsets that I purchased like 6 months ago and never watched!! haha
I already wanted to give up a bit this morning...it was all emotional tho...I am having a load of personal problems....but with the day off....fresh food to keep me full and DVDs and books to keep me busy .... I think day one will be a success....

Faerie, how is it going?
I'm really going for it right now, same as you, and I'm finding all kinds of interesting and not fun things going on.
I feel good eating raw, and it tastes great (I'm so THRILLED to be eating raw meals that taste great to me and make me feel satisfied on all levels), but the detoxing process is bringing up a lot of unpleasantness, lots of strange emotions, and a lot of fatigue.
I feel so tired I can hardly move, kind of like back in the old days when I used to get colds and flus.
Are you experiencing anything like that?

Hey girlie!
I am doing ok... emotionally ...its kinda hit and miss. I have been on a high dose of anti depressants for some time now... and I think going raw is messing with it a bit.. I will have to reevaluate my dose later with my doctor.. A few months maybe...
but I am not tired....I thought I would be.. but I am a bit scatter brained...which sucks in my line of work...haha
Hurm... I am hungry tho..but I am not sure if I am HUNGRY or just wanting to eat foodage...
Going with the book I am reading (I think you would really like it!!) I am having a bit of cooked food at night...which is nice...but its all whole ingredients and such and starts off with something big and RAW hehe
Tonight... I will be trying to make my own sushi with cold smoked salmon! I will let ya know how it goes.
Are you working?? In school?? I kinda wish I was at like a spa starting this journey...not at work.. in THAT TIME of the month...hahaha

Yeah, I understand about being hungry. I've heard about two kinds of hunger being described, one being that you don't feel "full" the same way eating raw the way you do with cooked, and the other where you're really HUNGRY.
When I was first figuring this out, I was really HUNGRY! It took a while to figure out what I needed to do to feel nutritionally satisfied in a way that worked for my body and didn't whack me out further.
But there's definitely a different feeling in my tummy when I'm eating raw vs. eating cooked.
I'm interested in how your journey goes, especially while taking anti-depressants. My emotions have been all over the map, and usually there's no "thing" I can attribute it to. Just suddenly I feel angry, sad, happy, all kinds of emotions I recognize and some I can't identify.
And yesterday I got a migraine, which one of my books says is an indication of detoxing, where the toxins are leaving the organs, getting into the blood, and then getting into the brain. Eventually they leave, of course, but there's that period where there's that migraine pain.
Fortunately, I'm not working. I'm healing from a physical injury and unable to work right now. So I'm grateful to have the time and space to learn and move through this, and of course AMAZINGLY grateful to have my boyfriend who supports us right now.
It works well for him to, since I have the time to do the research and the food prep, then all he has to do is buy it and eat it!

Oh, I'm also curious to know how it goes for you to eat meats and to eat cooked vegan food.
For a while there I was eating cooked vegan meals and a large, fresh, raw salad before each meal. But now I just can't handle any cooked food at all, even the vegan foods I loved.
All the times before when I went 100% raw, it REALLY whacked me out, and I wasn't too keen on most of the recipes, to be honest. So this time, I planned a few raw food meals, but also had some cooked vegan meals as 'backup'.
This time I'm finding I'm doing just fine with the raw food, and mostly am eating the cooked just because I went through the raw faster than I expected - and I really didn't like eating the cooked. It well and truly felt 'dead' to me in a way I never understood or experienced before.
I'm finding this process fascinating and am curious about your experiences.

Ok...
Tonight... sushi I tried to make... it sucked...seriously.... *sigh*
I am having a rough night tonight... I want to eat like a "normal" person... I want cookies and cake and ice cream ... I am blaming this on my period.... (sorry boys...hehe) but I wanna be a crying girl and eat cake... CAKE I SAY!!
*sigh*
So instead I had some sprouted whole wheat pasta (a transition food listed in my book) and tomatoes ...and of course I started it with a huge salad... but man...the sweet tooth is kicking...
I think next week (when this time has come and gone) ...things will be easier....
Tomorrow night my friend is taking me out for sushi ....it will be nice to eat with another person....and be out and about...especially after this horrible meeting I have at way too early in the morning...
Anyhoo....thats my day 3 ...hehe

Just so you know, emotional detox is very common on this diet, so be prepared! Since we can't solve stuffing our emotions with numbing cooked food which helps displace that energy, we have to ride out our feelings.

Yeah, the emotional rollercoaster is not a fun place to be! But I understand it does end in a few days or a few weeks.
Faerie, I totally get the TOM cravings, I'm going through that right now myself. Having the PMS stuff while going through the switching-to-raw-food detox is tough!
One thing I find that really helps is eating a raw food chocolate bar, then I'm getting the best of both worlds. I really like the Raw Revolution brand raw food bars, the ones with chocolate (Chocolate Coconut is my ultimate favorite, but the other ones are fabulous too).
I had an "I need to cope" day yesterday, but am back on track today.

hello there. my wife and i are new to raw food as well - just started getting interested in it back in november. she started workign at a health food store where one of the people had been 100% raw for about 5 years. my reaction was "what does she eat??" since then i've been doing a bunch of research and am sold. we haven't fully made the transition to 100%, but have been going with raw breakfasts and mostly raw lunches for a month or so. i think i'm at least ready to go 100% and i think she is too.
reading these posts is definately helping. i had no idea there were raw food chocolate bars! i'll have to ask her if they sell those or can order them - just in case the dried fruit doesn't cut it.
