Idea Percentages of raw...and my personal game plan...

Hey everyone...

Here I am... approaching the start date of my new transition. I have been reading a ton and getting a lot of conflicting messages and have encountered some rude people in the real world who are just idealists with no flexibility....

but I wanted to know how you calculate the percentage of raw??

My goal (that I have worked on setting up with a raw chef and with my own personal style) is 80% raw. But really... I dont get how that is put together and I no longer have access to that chef!! EEP!

Here is my game plan... I would love comments on it...

First 2 weeks in January:
*Every other dinner raw.
*Raw fruits and veggies added to all other meals and snacks.

Second 2 weeks in January:
*6 out of 7 dinners raw. One night saved for date night =P Preferably at our fav. sushi place so I dont feel too bad!
*Continue with adding fruit and veggies to every other meal.

First 2 weeks in February:
*6 out of 7 dinners raw. (Saving that one night again)
*Every other breakfast raw.
*Continue with adding of fruit and veggies

Second 2 weeks in February:
*6 out of 7 dinners raw.
*6 out of 7 breakfasts raw.
*Continue adding veggies and fruit to all other meals and snacks.

.....that is really as far as I have gotten so far...haha but that is generally how I would like to move forward.

I fear giving up tea.... I love my tea...so I dont think that will ever go anywhere unless I can find a way to make tea raw in my every day life....

Anyways...I am loving reading over this forum and doing all my research...

Thanks in advance for all the help and comments!

Well....

I spent my afternoon reading The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose .... and I am revamping my plans!! haha

Guess I posted too soon...

I am going to follow her week one for level 4 (what I ended up being) to the letter and see how I feel....

Reading her book really inspired me... I enjoy her approach and flexibility and realistic view of it all... since I am a strange bird... I think this will work well for me...

Anyhoo....YAY for my journey...shopping starts tomorrow!

I haven't read that and so I don't know what that plan is, but I can tell you what worked for me. I already ate plenty of fruits and veges before going raw, and I haven't eaten gluten containing foods in several months. So when I went raw, I decided to incorporate raw foods into every meal rather than pick meals that were raw. So for breakfast I might have had some fruit with oatmeal, snacks were maybe fruits with raw cheese or some crackers, or rice cakes with raw almond butter. Lunch and Dinner were pretty easy cause i ate a salad with whatever else was planned for dinner. It's taken me 4 months, but I'm about 70-80% raw most days. I've lost about 15 pounds, and I feel a thousand times better. The last couple of weeks I haven't eaten as well, and I feel it throughout my whole body. I don't know if I'll ever be 100% raw, but it's a good goal to shoot for, I just don't make myself crazy trying to get there.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Melissa

thanks a bunch Melissa! I have read about that approach as well...to add rather than subtract.... There are just so many ways of doing this...and so many different theories.. I am guessing this will just be a guessing game of trial and error! hehe but all fun ^_^

Today is my shopping day after taking my mom to the airport (so in a couple of hours) ... I am bursting with excitement and nervousness.

I will be keeping a journal and such ....have to mark this kinda journey!

I agree it is easier to add. Start each meal with something raw, whether some fruit or salad. Start mornings off with a smoothie, fruit or juice. If hungry, eat a piece of fruit before reaching for a cooked item, etc.

You are right, there are so many ways to do it..... and all of them bring you closer to great health, so march on!

And I do find keeping a journal is really helpful.... I'm hoping to turn mine into a blog sometime soon.....

Good luck!
