Orthorexia nervosa

Okay I have read and heard about this disorder before and I want to know what people in the raw community think. I have some very strong opinions about Orthorexia nervosa.

Orthorexia nervosa A newly identified eating disorder, where the patient has an unhealthy fixation on eating healthy food. This condition, identified by dr Steven Bratman, USA, in 1997, is probably as common as the other eating disorders, anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa (http://www.gastrolab.net/dicteo.htm)

Commentary:

A disease means more prescription drugs which equaals more money for the medical industry. I guess I can believe that if people really go extremes it is bad, but I don't know if I necessarily believe that with ebing true if one is consuming healthy foods. So would a better alternative be to eat processed?

It's a term coined by a person who was overzealous about eating vegetables within 20 minutes of pulling them out of the ground and living in a commune. It's not for people who are truly interested in being healthy IMO.

I am serious about the above, I've read the article before and it is someone who was extreme but it does not apply to people who choose not to eat food that damages their bodies or doesn't make them feel good. The term never really took off thank goodness because the media would definately have a field day with it.
