7 days in to raw foods - HELP

Hi,
I am new to this site. I just started the raw foods diet 7 days ago. Everything was coming along fine and I was actually quite suprised that I wasn't deprived. My bowel movements stayed regular, but obviously changed. Yesterday, on day six I had a severe headache all day long and then experienced severe distention all day through the night. The gas pains were so severe I had trouble sleeping. I ended up having a bowel movement this morning, but it wasn't much and I am still feeling uncomfortable. I didn't change anything that I was eating for the previous 5 days. Is this normal??? Is there something I should be doing different and/or taking with my raw foods? This is confusing to me because the foods that I have been eating (i.e. fresh and raw fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, etc.) are what i thought one should eat to stay regular. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated. I am quite uncomfortable, but still don't want to stop eating this way. Please help!!! I would also like to add that I had a series of colonics about a month ago so I don't think it is excessive toxins.

Drink plenty of water and be careful of how you combine foods. Don't eat fruits with vegetables unless you have a food combining chart. When going raw you may experience a healing crisis when your body is getting rid of toxins. Perhaps, the best solution is to get a colonic. My first colonic after going raw, how can I put it, was VERY productive. Your body probably can't get rid of the waste fast enough. Don't get any fancy colonics with suction, just the old fashioned water naturally flowing in the colon and flowing out waste. I hope this helps.

Hope you are soaking those nuts and seeds!!! Very very important.

Some smooth move tea sounds like it would be a good idea. Not so dramatic as a colonic. If you can't find smooth move then some senna tea. Go slow. Just a little at a time and wait a good long while before more or you might make the opposite problem.

If you have given up coffee in the process of going raw that might be part of the problem. Coffee stimulates the colon and the urinary tract. Your body will need time to adjust.

Bowel movements do change when going raw and how they change will depend on your previous diet and what raw foods you are eating now. That part is normal. But you can't stay constipated and stay healthy.

If you can't find smooth move tea or senna just buy some good old fasioned prunes. Get things moving! Gotta get those toxins out. Btw, just because you had a colonic before doesn't mean you aren't clogged up with toxins again because going raw does release lots and lots of toxins. Since you had a colonic - I would also try supplementing with good bacteria like lactobacillus as colonics can also wash the good stuff away. It takes a very long time to re-establish those good bacteria if you are deficient.

Good Luck,
Greenbunny

I'm new too!

I just started too. I have some of the same problems, but just stay with it.Your body will adjust to your new way of eating. It takes time for your body to adjust and dump all the toxins. Your going through the cleaning out part. Just drink a lot of water. Bornagain
