From what I understand of lucid dreaming...

it's being in a dream state and being conscious of your dream while you are in the dream. So not like, you wake up and you remember the dream. I've been told by some that sometimes when you're lucid dreaming, you actually think that it's reality and not a dream but you are in control. Though I believe that most lucid dreams, the dreamer knows they are dreaming and free from the harms of society and that's why Greenbunny is able to go up to her and hug something that before she wanted to just hit.

It gives the dreamer a chance to learn more about themselves and the issues that they are facing in real life.

Since I've only had a few instances of lucid dreaming, here and there... GB and Anisha, please correct me if there's anything amiss

In my experience I usually know that I am dreaming and can control what is going on for the most part. LDing for me has been mostly pure entertainment. I didn't know that I could use it as a tool like GB mentions.

I have had few instances in dreaming and where I think it is reality, but I don't know if that would fall under the category of LD.

While we are talking about sleeping, has anyone experienced "Sleeping Demons"? They are not very friendly. If one "attacks you while you are sleeping you usually feel like you can't breathe or very heavy and can't get up.

I had one the other day, or at least I think I did. I was sleeping and I remember I was trying to get up and couldn't. My roommate came in my room to ask me/say something and with all my might I couldn't get up.
After I finally got up in real life, I asked my roommate what she wanted when she came in my room...she had no idea what I was talking about. She says she never came in my room. So now I believe I was dreaming and a sleeping demon visited me in my dream...How Scary! I didn't know they had so much power.

Hey Anisha, I've never heard of "Sleeping Demons" like that before, yet I have had the experience you are talking about many times. It used to happen to me, but it has been many years since that has happened. I thought at the time that my consciousness was quite close to the surface and that I was trying to get into my body and work it but that I was confused and I wasn't really awake. I was lucid dreaming and thought that I was awake already. I never thought it had to do with demons at all.

When you feel that you are conscious in your dreams that is technically lucid dreaming even if you are having trouble figuring out whether or not it is reality. I have had both experiences: trying to figure out if I was actually dreaming or not, whether what I saw was reality or not and knowing for certain that I was dreaming right away and that I was in a LD. A good portion of the time it took me a little while to figure out of I was awake or not. I got better at knowing the difference as time went on.

I haven't had a LD in what I consider to be a long time for some reason. I guess I haven't had the need lately. I have been having some fabulously insightful, dramatic and interesting dreams in their own right though.

I've been feeling some problems in the morning that I am going to start a new thread on regarding the energy I feel immediately upon waking in the morning. I'd love y'all's feedback on it.

That's strange that you remember your friend coming in but she didn't!

Actually... two nights ago I had two lucid dreams that someone was trying to hurt me in the same night. They didn't get to me and I knew I was dreaming but I could not get up. I felt really heavy like you mentioned, no breathing issue though. I could not pull myself out of dream state. Finally the doorbell rang and it pulled me out. phew! I could have been laying there trying to get up for just a couple minutes but it felt like an hour or two that I was trapped.

Now that I think about it..... I had these dreams after watching the latest Harry Potter. oooo~

Yeah it feels that you are there for eternity. There is a more scientic name for this experience - sleeping paralysis, I think.

This was my first time getting demons in awhile.

Oh sometimes when I am LDing and reality and dream world collide, I get to know, cause while I am lying there it feels like the room is spinning.

Ooooh Harry Potter, Which one?!

Order of the Pheonix. It was a bit darker than the other, more wizards fighting, that sort of thing.

Oh I love Harry Potter. I havent seen that since theaters.

What do you think about deja vu and lucid dreaming...is there a correlation?

The spinning has to do with experiencing your etheric body directly as it tries to reconnect with the physical body. The etheric body does spin. I'm curious which way yours spins as you try to get back into your body. I experience the spinning often when in an altered state of consciousness.

Movie images and concepts are often processed through the subconcious and conscious minds through dreams. It doesn't surprise me at all that a Harry Potter movie would effect your sleeping/dreaming/waking up experience. Btw, what did you think of the movie?

Especially that it would effect me more now because I rarely watch movies and when I do they're generally pg or pg13 and I haven't had tv hook up for 5 years.

It dragged some the first half but the second half was a decently long battle between the wizards which was cool to see. Because they have a dozen fighting at once and then they switch it to... well can't tell you that part!! It's a lot different than the others and they're quite a bit older... I think Harry will be almost 30 when they make the last one!

I've only heard bad ratings from people that actually read the book, because it doesn't stick to it at all.

Anisha... As far a deja vu and lucid dreaming... I've never heard of there being a correlation. Deja ve falls into the dreaming category of precognitive dreams or premonitions but I wouldn't see why it couldn't mix together?

I would say that deja vu and lucid dreaming are distant cousins. They both deal with connection to the inner parts of the mind and special abilities - but that's the extent of it.
