I would take dried fruits an veggies, but if you absolutley have to have fresh (i think i would have to have some fresh) I would think that carrots, celery and apples (not ripe yet). I hope this helps some, and i hope you have a nice camping experiance.

  • Bring several sprout bags. Start a batch in half of the bags about 5 days before you leave and the second batch the day you leave. You should be able to make one or two more batches beyond this. Hang them from your backpack and get them wet two or three times a day (depending on how hot it is).
  • Sweet potatoes. Just cut them up and eat them.
  • Zucchini or yellow squash (although store bought might not last long enough. I was thinking about how long it lasts after being picked from a garden).
  • I would think citrus would last a good part of the time.
  • Do you know how to spot wild edibles? Maybe there's a class offered somewhere nearby before your trip.

dried bananas and mangos are great, also dates, try fresh apples, and avocados that are not quite ripe. As for veggies most will spoil out of thr fridge in a day or two, if you have a dehydrater you can make raw veggie crackers. Have fun on your journey!

You could also bring Indian mango.

Cheesy light and easy

Dehydrated fruits and blends of fruits and nuts are the best travel companions in the woods.

I have just pulled a batch of tomato leather out of the Excaliber. Make a salsa type sauce, and pour on teflex sheet. Dehydrate for about 12 hours. suggest using Roma's.

Check out Krumbleez and Krackleez. You can climb the continental divide with those in your pack
