Herbal teas are invaluable to my staying healthy and warm on live foods. Herbal teas are the concentrated essence of a plant brought out into water. Without ginger tea I don't know how anyone can make it through an entire winter on raw food - unless of course they were eating lots of ginger in their food. Even then - warm teas provide a hot source fpr live foods. In Traditional Chinese Medicine salads and fruits are supposed to be very cooling and bad for you if eaten too much. I find that if I balance my fruit and veggies (which I take out of the fridge to warm up to room temp before eating) I can keep myself from getting the classical cold conditions that so many live fooders get.

Also, I eat live foods mostly because cooking food kills the enzymes and hence makes the fiber difficult to digest. We have to steal enzymes from other body processes and convert them to digestive enzymes. Enzymes are life force. Tea has no fiber and very little actual substance in it to be digested... hence.... the need for the enzymes is not there. Herb teas are perfectly OK.

When I am eating 100% live food (as I am now and have many times before) I find that if I eat something bad for me my body reacts immediately and completely. A little while back I wanted some plain cooked acorn squash. I figured that would be pretty easy to digest. I threw it up immediately. My body said NO! Anything even a little cooked now makes me sick. I can tell if something is indigestible instantaneously. Even from the live food deli I can tell if they made something with cashews because it makes me sick - whereas when I was eating even 98% raw it didn't bother me at all. Eating all live tunes up the body. The body talks more clearly.

Drinking herb teas never bothers me even a little. I need it now in the cold weather. Most of the time it just feels soothing and good. I also drink warm unpasteurized miso soups and other warmed soups. Very important for me to have warm foods. Teas are the quickest and easiest way for me to warm the core of my body. I never get sick from it. In the summer months I do not want teas in the same way.

If you go all raw your body will probably tell you if teas are good for you in particular and in your envirnoment and which ones. Some people run hot and some cold. Teas are great for people like me that run cold.
