Vega Supplement line

Has anyone tried Vega the new line of raw/vegan line 'created' by Brendan Brazier the triathlete?

A few months ago my mom bought some and I tried it... It doesn't exactly taste good.

I don't use protein powders because I don't really think I need anymore protein in my diet. I hover around the 5-10% of total calories mark and don't feel I need to add any more. I've read a lot about protein and the myths surrounding it and how it's been so marketed to us. In the 70s we thought we'd save the world by giving people more protein but if you read The China Study you find out how eating excess protein gave children liver and kidney diseases in Latin America. That's just my two cents...

Also, his line of food product are not %100 raw and some even contain ingredients that a raw foodist will not eat. (Read the labels)

Vega has helped me BIG!

I attended one of Brendan's talks last year. He's very informative and inspirational. He makes no claims of being 100%, in fact he say he is about 80-90% raw and has been vegan for 15 years, since the age of 15. He's a very successful athlete. He has raced Ironman triathlons professionally since 1998 - 2004.

In fact, Brendan is the one who first get me thinking about a mostly raw food diet ??

His Vega bars are 100% raw and his Vega meal replacement is about 40% raw. He uses pea and rice protein in the meal replacement (as well as raw hemp, raw maca, raw chlorella) so that makes it not as raw.

I'm about 80% raw as well and eat his bars and meal replacement most every day. I feel great on it! Loads of energy and my training performance has skyrocketed.

Bif Naked is 100% raw with the exception of the Vega meal replacement: http://www.herroyalmajestysrecords.com/bif/index.html

Also, you might like to read Brendan's new BLOG on GreanZones.org. Lot's of great info...

ELA

I don't normally buy supplement bars, etc. except when I'm running around and haven't brought any raw snacks with me from home.

I have eaten the Vega and Larabars. I don't mind the taste of Vega... it's an acquired taste and Larabars are sometimes too sweet for me.

Cheers!
