Teeth!
Hey, sorry if this is in the wrong section, if it is, then please feel free to move it! Also, this is my first post here =o)
Anyways, I have been a vegan for a year with a great interest in raw foods. Basically, I wanna know what foods are good for your teeth like good for teeth strength or good for making them more white. My teeth are pretty gross (I will admit, and it's due to neglect on my part), but what foods can I eat to help out my teeth in any way? Thanks all!

Thank you for posting this question! I am interested in hearing what people have to say on this subject as well. (Unfortunately, I am new to this and don't have the answer). But I am glad you posted it and eagerly await a response from the group as well.

I would simply recommend getting good toothpaste. I have a fluride-free tea tree oil all-natural toothpaste. It is far better than any standard artificial toothpaste I have ever used before. Twice a day with it should dramatically improve your teeth.
Cheers,

I do have an all natural fluoride free toothpaste and now I am starting to use it more but in the past, like I said, I just would only use it like once a week or so. Thanks!

Well I was listening to a podcast and Valya mentioned putting greens in smoothies...Cause when her family took the greens out, their teeth began to deteriorate and when they started incorporating them again, their teeth began to get stronger like previously.
I find this somewhat true so far. I don't have cold sensations anymore, I feel my teeth being stronger and getting whiter.

Oh and in terms of toothpaste, I use couple drops of dr. bronner's castile soap.
And I have heard mixed arguments regarding the use of flouride, so I have decided not to use it anymore.

Anisha, do you think it's adding greens that are high in calcium or can it be any greens? Just curious.

Yeah I would like to know what greens please!
Also I don't use fluoride. My sister gives my little nephew water that has fluoride in it though =o(

Hey Gypsiemama,
I don't quite understand your question. When I think of greens, the first thing that comes to mind is spinach and red romaine and that is what I use. However, from what I gather green means any green veggie expecially leafy vegetables.
I have also used basil, celery, cucumber, dill and bok choy. So I don't know if it is just spinach and romaine cause I haven't experiented long enough with anything else.

There really are no special foods or supplements that can improve teeth. What improves teeth are the body's healing.
But as you probably know there are many foods that are bad for the body, which in turn are detrimental toward teeth and dental caries.
Since tooth decay tends to come from an acid environment, the best thing IMO would be the more alkaline raw foods.
Also when eating very sweet or dried fruit it may be useful to eat celery or other greens along with them to cleanse the teeth from any stickiness that may occur.
