Smile Raw cravings

Does anyone know of a good website that gives nutritional properties of raw foods? I'm 43 days raw today, and I've been having some big raw cravings. I'm actually finding that my tastes are moving more toward mono eating at each meal.

Last week it was watermelon. Couldn't get enough.

For about the last ten days, it's been cauliflower. I've eaten an entire head of it for one meal, more than once.

I also can't get enough scallions and red onion this week. My salads have gone from having a dozen different ingredients to romaine, scallion, red onion, cherry tomato, and a bit of dressing.

I thought I remembered something in one of Victoria Boutenko's books talking about why she craved scallions, but I can't find it in Raw Family or Green for Life. I guess it was in the 12 Steps book that I've only read from the library.

It would be nice to have a central resource that explains why we have strong cravings for healthy, raw foods. I'd much rather have these cravings than the old SAD ones though! I've totally lost my sweet junk desire since it now makes me physically sick if I eat just a little bit. As I get more in touch with my body, I'm developing a curiosity about its cycles it's going through in the raw cravings. Yay for raw!

Renee

I'm glad you're you having healthy cravings!! Don't you just love it when you're sitting with a bunch of people and someone's like 'oh man i wish i had a bag of chips right now' and you smile dreamily and are like 'mmm watermelon'

For the nutritional properties you could try www.calorie-count.com... they have tons of junk but they also (usually) have the raw version, and they have a complete analysis of all the nutrients and how much (ex. i used the info to prove to my parents that a banana had all the essential amino acids in greater or equal amounts as in an eggs).

That's so funny for the last week or so I've madly been eating califlower and watermelon!! Mmmm I wish I had a watermelon now!

00rawr00 - yes! I do love that! My body just loves being on raw, and even my cravings are showing it now. Thanks for the website recommendation - I will check that out! (I have a nice big watermelon again too).

theveg - I have noticed the same thing, even starting a few months before I decided to go raw. I've hated yogurt since I was an infant - but then one day I wanted to try some, and then I went through two weeks of needing it every day. I'm not eating it now while trying to be 75% and higher raw, but that was odd!

Then it was avocados. I always disliked everything about them, then one day I saw some in the produce section and wanted to try one. Got hooked for a few weeks! Now I use them for awesome raw guac, so they're still in my life. (I just watch how many of them I eat because I'm trying to lose a lot of weight, so I'm high raw/low fat).

After going raw, I bought some spinach to use for green smoothies, even though I never liked it. I figured, I most disliked it cooked so I'd try to put it in a 60% fruit/40% greens smoothie. Worked just fine! (I just don't use it in strawberry/banana smoothies because it looks gross).

The one thing I still don't really like is celery. Victoria Boutenko said in Green for Life that celery helps salt cravings, so I tried adding it into my green smoothies. You just can't hide that stuff!
