Soaking nuts before making nut butters?

Hi all,

Should I soak nuts before making them into nut butters? Would the soaked-up water interfere with natural oils in the end product? I've heard of soaking and then dehydrating, but I wonder if dehydrating is really necessary. I am specifically wanting to make "living peanut butter." How long would I soak the peanuts for and could I skip the dehydrating part?

Simple answer Yes! You need to soak AND dehydrate. The nutbutters will taste as good or better than the store bought dead stuff. I usually soak peanuts over night.
