raw diet including dairy?

I've been thinking about adding raw goats milk, yogurt and goats cheese into my diet of fruits and vegetables for awhile now. I haven't drank milk in a very long time and I hate cow's milk so I hope I like goats milk. Does anyone else here eat a raw diet including dairy? I can't really find much information on it so I was wondering if anyone could tell me about it.

The raw goat's dairy is often recommended for 2 groups of people: those who develop failure to thrive syndrom on raw diet, and those with Cancer. The latter group's recommendations come from the work of Dr. Johanna Budwig. In her 35+ year long carrier, she was nominated for the Nobel Prize in medicine for her research in flax seed oil mixed with raw goat's milk yogurt (plus raw and living foods) in the treatment of cancer and other diseases. As a biochemist, she noted that the flax oil opened the cells up to breathe, which oxygenated them and reversed the cancer. The goat's yogurt simply protected the flax oil. For more information, "google" Johanna Budwig, and check out this site as well: http://www.freewebs.com/livingeden/howcellsbreathe.htm
Thanks

Eating raw cheese was very helpful when transitioning into raw foods for me. Instead of eggplant parmigiana, a little raw cheese on crackers went a long way to keeping me raw. I found however, that later, after being raw for awhile the cheese made me feel worse than eating just fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds. Avocado seemed to take care of the same craving better. My impression is that it will all depend on your particular body needs at a particular time. I would definitely go back to eating raw cheeses if I craved them. They certainly are yummy. I did best on goat cheese by far. Less fat and more easily digested. One thing that I found was that you have to be very careful with the raw dairy to make sure it's properly made, stored and not rancid. My body would tell me right away when it wasn't good at the first bite. Just didn't taste right or smell right. Gabriel Cousens seems to think that most of the problems that people have with raw dairy is what the animals are fed. If you can get it from someone who raises goats and feeds them a varied organic diet all the better.

Hey Passionforliving, fascinating site you posted. Thanks. The only problem for most people is getting the raw goat milk. Makes me want to go buy a goat!

We have been drinking raw goat milk for quite some time, adding it mostly to smoothies or mixing it with tocotreniols (sp?) and honey. I personally am not a big fan of the goat milk taste, and this combination totally disguises it. There is some risk in drinking or eating any raw dairy product, so make sure you are getting it from a reliable source, although no company direcly markets for human consumption (I don't think). I have recently tried to cut out all dairy from my diet for several weeks but haven't noticed a difference, for better or worse.

But as a transition, I think it is a great choice much better than cows milk b/c it is easier on the bodies digestive system and seems to be less of an allergen than cows.

cravings for salmon

After Passionforliving's post I decided to research getting raw goat milk in the Austin area. Anyone know any???? I was told that there are some farms around, but couldn't get a name.

How would one tell if they found a good source or not? What is the criteria????

I have been craving salmon like crazy. Today I found cold smoked salmon that is smoked only to 90 degrees and hence is still raw. I figured that since I was craving salmon so much it was likely that I was in need of the omega 6 fatty acids in it. So I also bought flax seed oil. I haven't been craving flax seeds, but then again, I don't have a real clear body memory of their taste so my body probably asked for the best it could come up with. The funny thing is that I never liked salmon before.

I know that having aerobic cells is vital whether you have been diagnosed with cancer or not and would like to give my body that kind of nutrition.

I have the same craving a few weeks ago for tuna. I didn't eat anythough but I thought about it. Did the flax take care of the craving? Maybe I should pick up some flax too.

I went through the raw fish (salmon, tuna) phase because I felt like I needed that kind of protein. I made sushi with cucumber, avocado, raw nori and raw soy sauce. It was good for a while but then just stopped having the cravings. I always double checked the company to make sure they did some kind of mercury testing, and only bought wild Alaskan fish.

Ashamed to say that I haven't broken into the flax seed oil. Been too busy to figure out how I want to use it. I really want to find some raw goat milk to put it in because of what Passion's post said about making the cell more aerobic with the combination. I do love yogurt too. Right now, the salmon is working nicely because of our eating situation. (Everything is still packed in pods and re-doing kitchen) It is something that I make for everybody and they adore it. I put the salmon with tomato, avocado and Whole Food's fabulous live food dill sour cream on sandwiches for the gang to get them some more live foods and make a meal that everyone wants more than eating out. The bread really isn't necessary - but fits the concept of sandwich which they relate to so well and makes them feel like I'm feeding "normal" food. As soon as I try the flax seed I will let you know if it fills the same need.

How does one find out if a company does mercury testing or not? It's the only brand of wild caught cold processed salmon that I've ever seen and it's from the massive whole foods in Austin so I'm first a bit afraid of finding out it has mercury and then losing a meal for the family and them going back to cooked chickens and cows and I'm hoping that I can trust Whole Foods to make sure the salmon isn't toxic. Is that naive???

I'm hoping that if I can find raw goat milk that will also tranfer the dairy needs of the family. They now eat yogurt and soy cheese. I at least try to buy goat yogurt instead of cow - but it's still pasteurized. Raw goat would be much better for them. I like to substitue good things in a way so that they start begging me for it. Raw foods usually taste and feel better. My live-food cookies never stay around long. Man do I miss my vitamix and dehydrator.
