Eating dairy update & cholesterol and fat issue

Since reading Passion's website info weeks ago I have delved into raw dairy and flaxseed oil. Found a small family farm in which I bought a share of the herd (4 goats) so that the money I pay is for their upkeep. The hoops these poor people have to go through. Well, it's been very interesting. Raw goat yogurt actually tastes fine with flaxseed oil in it surprisingly enough and with fruit in it is even better. I find that the yogurt sits with me wonderfully and I crave it with no downside. The feta and chevre don't have the same effects on my system. They don't seem to hurt, but don't give the lift that the yogurt does. I do not crave raw salmon as much either.

In short - experiment with raw dairy a big success! I have found that adding raw dairy and cold-smoked wild-caught alaskan salmon has added great variety and feeling of completeness to my diet that I lacked before. I feel more satisfied and healthier.

Important info about cholesterol: The two holistic doctors that I brought my mother with cardiovascular disease to both said that cholesterol is produced by the body in response to a need to fix the arteries. My mother had through the roof cholesterol her whole 80 years of life with no heart disease. It was when her triglicerides went up that the holistic doctors got concerned and when she had a heart attack.

About dairy: it is not the cholesterol in dairy that causes the problems. The body uses and makes cholesterol as a temporary fix to the arteries. Cholesterol is a reaction to an acidic condition in the body that damages the arteries. The cholesterol is used to try to fix that. Raw dairy is not acidic in the same way that processed dairy is. Also, if you are eating mostly raw, your body is more than alkaline enough to handle some acidity and keep in balance and protect the heart. It is not fat per se or cholesterol that causes heart disease - it's acidity and nasty fats. The body needs good fats - hence my attempts to make the flax seed oil more assimilable and usable to my cells by adding the yogurt as outlined on the website - and good cholesterol is necessary and even the "bad" cholesterol won't harm if not needed by an alkaline system. Before worrying about cholesterol - test yourself for acidity. Of course, once the damage is done and there's almost no room left for fat to move through, well, then you perhaps have to be extra careful - but if you don't have any problems it doesn't make much sense to worry about the symptom rather than the cause.

That's my understanding.

Thumbs up yogurt and flax update

We seem to have gone from raw dairy to drugs and valium some how.

As to experimenting with raw dairy. Have determined that plain yogurt and flax digests better and I get better results. Besides, all the experiments in Passion's website description were done without fruit, so it's not good to add variables without having a good track record of results with the original findings. I find that I simply do not feel as good with fruit added.

I have also stopped all raw goat cheese because it also doesn't sit well.

I do feel great with the yogurt and the flax seed oil however. I ran out a couple of days and could definitely feel the difference.

When taking plain flax - if I take too much - I don't feel good.

I so far have been taking only one serving as described in her post.

Btw, I have not been diagnosed with cancer - I am doing this only because I feel that having oxygenated cells has to be great for everyone and as a preventative. Also, because as I wrote before, I was craving raw salmon which is high in omega 6 fatty acids and according to the research posted the very best way to get the omega 6s to the cells was with the flax and yogurt mixture. I still eat a little salmon, but don't crave it in the same way.

Cheers,
Greenbunny

Raw Milk

We use to drink raw cows milk.we would go pick it up every week.one dollar a gallon and all the creme on top.i would scoop it off and the kids would make fresh butter...or i would whip it to put on starberry shortcake.one week..i noticed the top was a bit pink.just thought oh well.i guess it was blood. we went back the next week to get our milk and the cow had died.we never got sick but that sort of did it for me.

Wow, I can see why you got scared, especially in America where germs must be killed at all cost - especially in dairy. I have a different way of looking at germs and at what happened to you. Firstly I'd like to say that we are not educated as we should be about how to tell when food is not good for us because we eat such de-natured foods. If you had been exposed to raw milk through the generations and taught by your grandparents you probably would have never drank pink milk in the first place. But don't you find it very interesting that you didn't get sick?! That is because your immune systems were in tip top shape and fighting off those invaders just like immune systems are supposed to. Now, if you eat a cooked and unhealthy diet, it wears away at your immune system and then even lesser bugs could more easily do damage. Ironically, it might be just BECAUSE you were eating raw (perhaps including raw dairy) that you were so good at fighting an occasional bacteria mishap with a sick animal. I've been reading a lot about the immune system. The onslaught that our bodies combat every minute is beyond belief. Our ability to heal ourselves is truly amazing - and the better we eat and the more positive we think (proven scientifically to enhance the immune system) the better we are at fighting off those "evil" germs when they come along. I'm personally more worried about the fumes and toxins and chlorine that I come into contact with daily and my ability to fight against them than I am about an occasional germ gone wild in a raw food source. With the salmonella in the spinach people have gone crazy making sure that they cook even salad material! In the long run - I believe that we are thinking in a short-sighted way being so germ phobic instead of thinking about gearing up our immune systems. Some people never get sick no matter what they are exposed to..... they have bionic immune systems. I eat raw because I want to create just that - a bionic immune system. Eating the raw goat yogurt is a risk, but I personally think that it's riskier not to eat it if my body wants/needs it and I feel stronger from it. I also make this decision for myself only and not for a family (besides my dog - if anything happens we'll go together). Well, I thought I'd just throw a differing perspective out there.

Interested in this thread

I searched for a dairy thread, and found this. Very interesting material. I haven't gone and read through the website that was posted, but I intend to. Before ever going raw I saw the health benefits of raw milk versus pasturized. I currently only eat a small amount of raw cheese (I found a great one at Sam's that is a sweet picante pepper cheddar) and no raw milk or yogurt. I do have a source for raw cow's milk, but not one for raw goat's milk that I know of. I have tried goat's milk and I am not impressed. Then again, I'm not impressed with cow's milk either, so I guess it's a wash

Anyway, I am interested in whether greenbunny has continued the goat yogurt/flax oil and if anyone else out there has any input.

Meanwhile I'm going to make some raw-ish spring rolls and do some research!

Thanks

Melissa

Hey Melissa,

It's so interesting that you found this old conversation!!!!!

I started to eat more raw cheeses with my flax instead. The yogurt is a pain to get and I didn't like it as much as the cheese. I do crave this combination and it does still feel great!

Part of the reason why I've been able to do this is because I have found that Whole Foods sells a plethora of different raw (and extremely delicious) raw cheeses.

I am not really a good test for whether or not the yogurt flax thing works since I don't have cancer. I just thought that it was cool to give the cells that kind of support and if it worked for cancer patients it was probably really good as a preventive and good for all cells. I'd be curious if anyone here on the site actually had any good results with reducing tumours.

Thanks for responding GB, I knew you would!

Glad to hear you are eating raw cheese, I love the stuff too. Whole Foods is certainly a good source, but I am also finding it at several other stores as well. I was pretty surprised to see it at Sam's Club. WF definitely has the best selection for sure, but a price to go with it... are you sticking with goat cheese, or doing cow cheese too?

I am more interested in info on raw milk to make your own yogurt from. I love yogurt, and I don't eat any since it's not raw from the store (not that I have seen). I absolutely LOVE greek yogurt. I miss it alot... and i made my own yogurt here for years and years.... something I've thought about and want to see what I can do to add it back in.

I do flax meal, but not flax oil yet. I probably will buy some next shopping trip. Just haven't gotten that far yet.

Thanks again!

I have tried goat, sheep and cow cheese - all are yummy and make me feel good. I have to admit that I have a general preference for the goat.

Flax meal (especially made fresh and especially soaked and then dehydrated and then made into meal) is supposed to be better than the oil. I do the oil because I don't have my vitamix still to make the meal.

I'll have to check out Costco to see if they have any raw cheese. That would be fabulous. We're no longer members of Sam's.

I don't eat enough cheese that it effects the pocket book that badly getting it from WF, but any savings is appreciated. Some of the particular cheese are astronomical though. I just stay away from those - and those are rarely goat cheeses.

It's real hard to find raw milk unless you live in the country and have a neighbor or something. I think it's amazing that I've been able to find a source for goat's milk and yogurt. I actually still "own" some goats. That's how they make it legally. I'm a part owner of the herd.

Raw cheeses aged long enough are legal to sell in stores whereas raw milk and yogurt aren't. That's why you can find raw cheese and not milk.

At least I have my cheese. I'd guess that the cheese has the same elements as the yogurt that we're supposed to mix with flax, so since it's so easy and yummy I do that instead... at least for now.

What's the difference between Greek yogurt and regular yogurt?
