Questions about Juicing

Hi! I haven't made an introduction yet, but since I had a specific question I thought it might be better to bring it over here. Here's a little background on me.

Because of some health issues, I chose to undertake the Masters Cleanse. I'm currently on day 19 of a 30 day cleanse. I ran into some serious heartburn issues with the lemons and so I'm switching over to a juice diet for tonight and the last 10 days. I got a fantastic juicer from a kind soul on freecycle.com and it works beautifully! Right now, my mouth is rejoicing at a different flavor from the lemonade.

I've been doing research on the raw diet and am still not certain that I want to commit to it 100%. I do know that I want to include more raw food into my diet, probably about 50/50. I'm hoping that there's room here for someone like me.

I also got a dehydrator so I'll be trying lots of neat recipes that I've found.

So...my question is this...with the juicing. I almost feel kind of bad that so much of the actual fruit is being wasted and I don't want to throw it into the garbage. I've been thinking that there are things maybe that I could do with the pulp...drying it and using it as spices or flavorings? Something? I was hoping there would be people here who are experienced with juicing that could give me some recommendations.

Thanks!

Hi! I'm bornagain. I save my pulp. I put it in a freezer zip lock and freeze it till im ready to use it. I made a wonderful carrot cake out of it raw of course. You can find wonderful recipes on the internet. I used a recipe out of a book called the uncook book by Juliano This book has great recipes. You can get really creative. Have Fun. God Bless, Tamela (bornagain)

HI,

I would mix the pulp with the juice. I think the pulp is very neccessary nutritionally.
As for the question of dehydrating.....a more Raw experienced person could answer that.

I have a question for you. Was or is the Master Cleanse hard to do? I've been debating it but, am afraid of not eating. Could you share your experience?

Thanks
Jen

first off, the point of juicing is to remove the fiber so that there is no digestion required of your body. the vitamins, minerals, etc. go directly to wherever your body requires. so on that note, no, the pulp is not necessary for it's "nutritional value."

i personally never use my pulp for anything
however, i do run it through the juicer multiple times if the fruit is especially juicy, that way i know i am getting every last bit of juice.

i never thought of freezing it, isn't that silly? well, actually, i posted about my old refrigerator a few months ago (enough said) i have a new fridge with a wonderful freezer. i shall start saving my pulp and using it in cake recipes and such.

good luck!
peace

We freeze our pulp, then mix it into the dog's food. She loves it.

I don't believe it's necessary to juice for meals, but we juice in the morning before working out. If you are fasting, that is another story.

I highly suggest trying 100% raw over 50/50 - it is going to be the most nutritious and complete way for you to eat. Cooked doesn't come close. The more raw in your diet, the healthier. You will never get more nutrients on any other type of diet or any type of cooked food.
