oxygen health

so the idea and philosophy behind raw food is this:
if you are 100% raw all the time, no slip ups, your body has the capability of healing itself of any illness, ailment, and prolonged life (some reports have found people over the age of 120 years old!) well, i don't know about the rest of you guys, but i am human and have slip ups, and quite frankly, i'm not so sure i'd like to live to be 120. if you stop and think about the things we all consume and consider them raw, you'll find that sometimes they really have been processed in some way, shape, or form. some stuff does fly under the radar, it happens. i personally think that it is close to , not totally, but close to impossible to be 100% raw, 100% of the time.

alright, with all of that said, has anyone else here heard about oxygen health? the theory goes something like this: disease cannot exist in an oxygen rich environment. supposedly most humans do not have enough oxygen flowing through their bloodstream. it's something i am beginning to investigate myself as i have a health issue that has actually gotten a little worse since becoming raw. now, i could go a little deeper here...i have grown so much as a human being since becoming raw that i am not sure that my eye condition has actually worsened, or if i am in a better place now to accept my disability....just something i've been pondering. aside from that, i am starting to investigate other means of incorporating natural life enhancement, so again, has anyone else heard of oxygen health? oh and by the way, there is a website by a doctor (his name escapes me right now) called oxygenhealth.com

Rawhippie, thanks for talking about this. It's important.

Let me tell you a little story about when I went to Hippocrates. It was just before Ann Wigmore died. She was telling us how EVERYTHING - every disease came from poor diet.... but it was obvious that she had cataracts and eye problems. We were all thinking it - but one of the students had the guts to say - "but what about eye disorders like near sightedness, cataracts etc.?" Do you know what her reply was? "OH, eye problems are are the one thing that is hereditary." HAAAA!

Listen, there is much more to health and sickness than what you put in your body. Raw food can help with a lot, oxygen can help with a lot, but we are much more complex creatures than such proponents of certain healing regimes give us credit for. The one thing Ms. Wigmore couldn't heal with her diet was her eyes so it was the one thing that she blamed on something else. Each of us has our weakness, everyone eventually suffers from ailments even if they are 100% live even if that ailment is eventually death.

I saw the most amazing picture of guru that lived in India (this was a long time ago and don't remember his name). He had eaten nothing but small amounts of fruit for the past 30 years. The picture made me cry he was so beautiful.... but alas.... he did die.... at a very ripe old age and wise saint.... but SOMETHING took him out.

Raw foods are wonderful, and a great place to start. It's hard to heal anything if you are bombarding your body with junk it has to deal with and if the body isn't getting nutrients it needs, but it is a foundation, a diet, not the end all.

Live foods are also not the whole of a spiritual journey like many people make it out to be. It is naive to think so.

Even if you were 100% live, living and eating from a pristine farm tree-ripened fruit off of old trees and drinking magically pure waters, that still might not cure you of your ailment. That all depends on whether or not that ailment is related to your diet!!!!

So many things are related to diet that people think that everything is. Also, changing your diet can change your emotions and therefore help with disorders that are emotionally related. The problem is that some ailments do not have these causes. It does not mean that they cannot be helped or healed. It just means that it is not correct to assert that every illness, discomfort or need can be addressed by raw food. There is a whole world to be explored beyond food and it's healing powers. This also doesn't mean that your eyes won't eventually be helped by raw foods. Things often get worse before getting better. It's just that no one can tell you logically whether or not your eyes will be affected by/helped by/or worsened by raw foods.

People like making whatever they are into more global than it is to make it more worthy, valid, powerful etc. Some raw foodists are no different. They are misguided.

If I were in your shoes I would go and try whatever you are drawn to to help you with your eyesight as long as it is logical and safe - doing it along with raw foods. If I felt in my bones that raw foods were making my affliction worse, I would first try to adapt my diet or even go back to my previous diet to see if it is really the diet that is making my eyes worse or if it is just a coincidence. I don't take much for granted.

Now that I've gone on and on and said all that - I LOVE OXYGEN! I use all sorts of pranayama (yogic breathing) exercises that are simply wonderful and I just love to soak in a bath with food grade hydrogen peroxide in it (I remove the chlorine). It just feels good.

The longwinded, cynical,
Greenbunny
