Boy, I am full of problems....

Hi all I am wondering if you all know of any healing foods or remedies for menstrual cramps. I have always gotten horrible cramps every month since I hit puberty. I always have to take ibuprofen for the pain and don't want to do that anymore. I know as I continue eating living foods that the cramps should lessen. Are there any foods in particular that are known for relieving menstrual cramps? Herbs would be a second choice for me, after food or beverage first.

Hi MB,

I am there with ya girl! The best thing I've found are those heating pads that you put on your tummy that adhere to your undergarment. I believe they are made out of charcoal or something - and found in the feminine product aisle at the store.

I have heard about using certain teas and supplements, like chamomile tea and evening oil of primrose, but I don't think it does much in the long run, sometimes if mine are really bad and I have to be around people other than my family I end up taking something, but being raw helps more than anything.

Here are some links about menstruation.

There was a really good one on a homeschooling site but I see they've suspended their account. It was on the Waldorf Homeschooling webiste.

Double Helix,

Thanks for those links. Here is one article I read today that was fascinating. It seems well researched and give explanations as to how women can not bleed on their periods, but still be fertile.

That looks a lot like the missing Waldorf Homeschooling article. It was called "Menstruation - is it really necessary?". I wish I would have saved that article to a file, it was a great one.

The fact that mammals in the wild don't bleed, but many pet mammals on an unnatural diet do says something too.
