I pulled up your food combining chart and I dont understand it, i saved it to my pc. So basically when your eating fruit, eat fruit, and when youre eating greens , eat greens...??
I got terribly sick today and had to come home, VERY sick.(my stomach) I had an avacado/lentil sprout smoothie for breakfast and too boot Ive been eating a lot of avacados because I was avacado fasting, guess my body rejected this. I want to understand how to eat ok, i thought were just supposed to eat raw and there was no "method" of eating this way, it was the sprouts that made me sick and TOO many avacados, damn i love avacados though grrrr!!
please enlighten me on this if you would
thank you

Food Combining chart

Oh I forgot to mention, I dont see avacado or tomatoes on this chart, am I not seeing them? Where do they fall in? Looks to me like all fruits can be mixed with greens, just not proteins and starches like nuts, seeds, dates, figs, raisins, etc

Hey RR - Sorry you got so sick, with a smoothie like that, I think I'd get sick too! I love avocado but never had an avocado smoothie! Sounds a little too rich for me. Also lentils in a smoothie don't sound like something up my alley.

I usually make my smoothies with lots of bananas (3-4 spotted ripe bananas) and fresh OJ or water as a base. I'll add other fresh and/or frozen fruit like peaches, mangos, strawberries, etc. Sometimes a handful of greens like spinach. And that is it.

Avocado is a fruit, but a fatty fruit so may not always mix well with other fruits because of the natural sugars and fat combination not digesting well. Many people have digestive difficulties eating beans as well.

Not sure which chart you are referring to, I know that Dr. Doug Graham has a very extensive food combining chart with nearly ever food imagineable, even foods he doesn't suggest eating, for clarity purposes.

About the avocado diet, it sounds like a bit of a rough mono-diet to me. I've done a banana diet and it was nice. There are 30 grams of fat in an avocado so that might be overloading your system with trying to process all of that fat and very little carbs. Have you ever thought about doing a banana diet? Or a mango diet? Or melons? I think your body might like that better.

Awesome Food Combining Chart

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a great food combining chart. I'm trying to print it out (due to graphics it may be a challenge)...it's a beautiful chart though - perfect for laminating and putting on the fridge.

Just wanted to add this note, I'm having difficulty with this link, it doesn't want to download and appear on my browser (could be my browser) - so just a heads' up for you guys here about that.

Too Acidic

My diet consists of fruits vegetables, and seeds and Im told my diet is too acidic!! Because of improper food combining. Yes I overdid the avacados. But the thing that got me sick was the sprouts, Im done eating them yuk!! I get all the nutrition I need from spinach, kale and deep greens. 30 grams of fat per avacado,WOW, but heres the thing...its GOOD fat, the fat our bodies need for energy the kind of fat our bodies know what to do with, its not a big mac or whopper its an avacado, lol, everyone says that too "avacados are fattening" theyre not. theyre good for you but youre right you shouldnt eat a bunch of them like i was doing 6 to 8 a day!! Oh and where do mushrooms fall into this chart? I found tomatoes on there but not mushrooms or avacado

The raw diet is extremely alkaline. Yes, fruit is acid on its own, but it causes the body to neutralize it and becomes alkaline.

Animal products and cooked grains are the exact opposite, they are alkaline before going into the body but cause an acid body once assimilated. I recall a chart putting refined table sugar as the #1 acid food. At the same time fresh fruits are one of the top alkaline foods!

I agree with you that avocadoes are not fattening, but too much fat in the body can make lots of body functions difficult - it slows down many things, digestion, assimilation, etc. Too much fat causes necessary sugars, as in fruit, in the blood to rise as it digests slowly and holds back natural sugars from digesting.

I love avos too, when I first started on the raw path, I'd eat at least one a day, which is fine in the beginning, it helps nip those cooked cravings in the bud.

But I've come to realize that I need to get fruit into the bulk of my diet. That's my own journey, but in general the human body does function better on a higher carb ratio for energy. It doesn't have to be an exact science, but most people notice they feel better, lighter and more energetic when they eat a predominate fruit/greens diet over predominate fat. It is very easy to over do fat, at least for me. People are always talking about getting your "good" fat and then eat a 60-70% fat raw diet...bananas have fat in them too, in perfect amounts!

I think you are the one who posted about Richard Blackman? Dude eats nothing but fruit and look at the guy!

alkaline/acid continued...

avacados are a fruit you know. so are tomatoes. anyway yea i dont remember posting about richard blackman/ aka f-1 the fruitarian but yea hes in shape, and Im beginning to look like that too. today i didnt have any avacado, or seeds, just ate a salad mid morning topped with tomatoes, then rest of the day banannas, raisins and apples and man oh man I was a powerhouse, full of energy!! so now I know how to eat and what to eat, plus tonight I did a alkaline test and finally I was 7.5 to 8.0 in that range, so Im turning more alkaline eating this way, and the post nasal drip is getting better but it is cold here and i work outside all day. oh yea, is a mushroom a protein? I dont see it on this chart, I ate my salad tonight with deep greens, topped with tomatoes and brown mushrooms..YUMMY!! and i feel great!!

That's great RR, good to see! I'm so glad you are feeling all that energy. This should be a normal feeling, not a special occurance, ya know?

I re-read my last response, and realized what I wanted to get across is that bananas do have "good" fat in them, but the perfect amount, vs. a huge amount of "good" fat in stuff like nuts, oils, etc.

Many people on raw wrongly believe they need to stuff themselves with "good" fats, such as flax, nuts, oils, olives, etc. and end up surrounding their whole diet around that stuff as their main diet focus, instead of the other way around, when in reality eating fruits and greens in abundance really supplies them with the perfect amount of fat, and that fat is a good fat.

Yes, and many people are suprised when they find out that peppers and cucumbers and botanically fruits as well. Some people call them fruit-vegetables, as they are used in salads or for less sweet purposes. Many people wouldn't use them in fruit smoothies or coleslaws.

I've made this combo which keeps me full for hours:

1/2 avocado, cubed
2-3 bananas slice
1-2 mangoes, cubed

toss and squirt the juice of a lime over the top.

This is filling, almost uncomfortably so, I think due to the avocado but it's very satsifying.

Ok I know why I got sick

I found a cotton looking substance in the sunflower sprouts just 2 days into soaking and rinsing, they were sitting in my collinder which i use so the excess water can drain during the day and at an angle also, well i looked closely and there was a cotton looking stuff in them looked white and cotton like so i threw them out. I know I got sick from this it must be mold. I am not sprouting anymore I can get all I need from kelp, spinach and leafy greens and fruit, avacado. maybe sprouts work for others but not me. I dont even like the smell of them now which by the way I can smell like a bloodhound now since going raw.I found a great way for me to eat and its working well for me now and Im sticking with it, no more experimenting. I eat fruit all day and a salad for dinner with avacado
