Which blender? Total Blender or Vitamix?

Hi all, Im a big red clown and now i will only be juggling fresh raw produce - no more of these bowling pins or flame sticks - I becoming a raw big red clown! :P

I was wondering though - which blender should is use. Im already vegan so i only want it to make green smoothies mostly and even some of the other "fancy" things like making nut butter for eg but im unsure about which blender would be best - a Vitamix or Total Blender by Blendtech.

If anyone has experienced both or is well up on the topic, id love to hear!

thanks :0)

I would go with the VitaMix. My friend got the Blendtec and I got the VitaMix and she wishes she had gotten the VitaMix now, although she is getting along just fine with the Blendtec. It just doesn't have the same power and control. I got mine at a reasonable price through ebay, Costco was selling them a while ago for about $100 more than I paid. The VitaMix really is the king of blenders!

I've only had my blender a week and making smoothies with it pretty much daily. It's just some cheapo Cuisinart 6 speed blender that apparently crushes ice though I haven't tested that yet. It was only $30 and it works just fine so far. I can hear it bogging down when it's first grinding down the food, but after that it's fine.

I dont make smoothies with ice, so I don't see why I would need one of those crazy expensive ones. I don't have experience with either one of those high end blenders, but if I were to buy one it would probably be the Blendtec Total Blender. A friend of mine has one and he swears by it.

I have owned a Vita-Mix Total Nutrition Center for about 11 years now. I have used the Blendtec before also in commercial kitchens etc. I would definatley choose the Vita-Mix over the Blendtec mainly becuase of the tamper design which is essential when making large ammounts of juice or peanut butter etc. The Blendtec also has a computer system which means there are many more parts to break down. The Vita Mix will last much longer and is far superior for making total juice with seeds, peels etc. and makes much smoother nut butters. Vita Mix is Best by far!
