I hope no one minds if I bump up an older thread! I think this is a good one.
I used to be lacto-ovo vegetarian for five years and then went back to eating meat. I gained a lot of weight through lazy eating habits, so I started doing some research and preparation to go back to my lacto-ovo vegetarian status.
In the process, I came across Angela Stokes's website,
www.rawreform.com. Her story really resonated with me and put the idea in my head to consider a raw lifestyle. I did a lot more research, and decided that 70% raw was right for me. My first goal is to become comfortable at that level, then I want to integrate being lacto-ovo vegetarian as well (I still have some cheese and a little bit of meat right now). Ultimately, I will probably up my raw ratio to 90% but it's not time yet for that.
I'm finishing my first week of raw now. It has actually been really easy for me because my body had enough of heavy eating. As I gained my last 20 pounds, I started battling constant nausea. My body was literally telling me that it didn't want what I was feeding it.
I naturally love veggies and fruit, so transitioning to a diet that is mostly those things has been no problem. I'm not going to assume that I won't have some cravings as time goes on, but I haven't so far. I honestly followed my body's guidance, rather than going into this as a temporary diet plan, so that makes a world of difference. I'm not forcing it on my body, my body guided me to do it.
