Ooh! Sorry to necro a month-old thread on my first post (by the way, hi! Newbie here), but you never want to apply aloe to a fresh tattoo. It leaches the ink from the skin, and can cause scarring that makes repairing the tattoo more difficult.
I've never heard of a water-only fast being good for the immune system. The idea is fascinating. In my experience, the best way to help body art heal is to increase consumption of vitamin C and probiotics -- immune boosters like echinacea and prunella vulgaris aren't bad either.
And yes, realistically, the first reply is correct ... the body reacts quite dramatically to toxins after having been clean for a long period of time. I've seen it happen with my own ink.
Edited to add: Incidentally, there are nontoxic, organic tattoo inks. They require more frequent touch-ups, but I've found that they heal better initially. Most artists will at least know where to get some, or be able to recommend an artist who uses them.
