Double Helix--question for you

Hey there, I had a question about your experience with your vitamix. You mention in the "my blog" post that it was hard to get stuff out from around the blades. Does the blade unscrew from the bottom like most blenders?

I am now in a position to buy one of these blenders... I'm considering a blentec or a vitamix. The size thing is not an issue for me, but I am curious about the blade assembly of these. Thanks!

hi mb - the Vitamix's container does not come apart, no.

It's a toss up to me too. I really like my Blendtec for many reasons. 99% of the time I use it for smoothies and it works great. Today was the one time I needed a tamper and it doesn't come with it. I was making some sprouted hummus and it kept cavitating. Eventually I added water as I try not to use too much oil and the recipe called for quite a bit. The water worked fine, but if I wanted to make banana ice cream or nut butter, I wouldn't want to add water.

There is one site that sells a tamper that is made especially for the Blendtec, I"ll see if I can find a link.

Thanks Double Helix,

Do the Blendtec's blades unscrew at the bottom?

The Blendtec is all one piece as well. But it's much easier to get stuff out of from the bottom, I just use a rubber (silicone) scraper.
