Summer weight loss challenge?

I'm trying to lose weight for the summer on raw. I'm also doing a lot of exercise. Anyone else trying to lose weight for the summer and up for a challenge?

That's a great idea. Do you have any idea how much weight you want to loose? Are you thinking of fasting on water or juice and eating fruits and veggies? Good luck!

Hi lucky-rainboq,
Soooo on board with you!!! Totally need to lose weight! When I was pregnant with each of my two children, I gained over 60 lbs. and then lost all of it each time within a few months after they were born. Great, right? Yes, at the time but I realize I didn't do it the right way because it has all come back (and then some)....so I am definitely up for the challenge! Warm weather is on it's way and I need to fit into some of my shorts! What's our challenge?

Val,
How did you lose the weight after your children were born? Why do you think it was the wrong way?

I had a recent slip up and gained back 10 lbs that I had lost

There's no better time than the warm weather coming to motivate us!

I wrote my first entry in my journal about a challenge!

I want to lose 24 lbs (or more!) by mid-July!

In order to do this I want to remain 100% raw and exercise every other day.

I would be up for doing a juice fast for a period of a week! I did one a few months ago but for only 4 days.

Thanks for your interest.After my children were born, I would get totally off schedule and usually wait until the afternoon before I would get around to eating. So, I guess in a way, I was "not eating" a lot, so I guess that contributed to weight loss. Even though I wasn't eating raw, I was eating a lot of salads and such. I guess I feel it was the wrong way because #1: we all know you must eat small meals or snacks throughout the day and #2: even though I was eating salads, they were most usually McDonald's salads (with cooked chicken and not-healthy dressing). My sister always envied that I could lose my preganancy weight so quicky, almost without effort. However, now that my daughter is almost 2, I now find it impossible to lose the weight I put on in the past year. Go figure.....

Anyway, it sounds like you have set a reasonable goal for yourself to lose 24 lbs. by mid-July. From what I've read, if you stick with raw, you should be able to easily manage that. Good luck! Hopefully, we can all support each other in our weight loss endeavours!

Oh yeah, forgot about the juice fast you mentioned. I have never done one....is that fruit and veggie juice....can it be made in the blender or only with a juicer. During the juice fast, can you consume as much juice as you want??? I think I might like to try that for a few days before I begin my intestinal cleanse.

Oh, I totally want/need to join you please! I just can't seem to get rid of 20-25 extra that I lug around with me!!! I also need to stop eating at night, anyone else have that problem?

Val, Thanks for sharing with me. I think that you can easily lose the weight you want going high raw!
I did a juice fast before, just juice, no solid fruits or veggies. I only did it for 4 days though. My original goal was 3, so I actually exceeded it by a day. I think the next time I do it, it will be for a full week. You can generally drink as much juice as you need to but I found I wasn't that hungry at all with it. I tried to focus more on green juices than sweet juices. My favourites were greens with apple to sweeten.

Elsaraw, It's really hard to stop eating at night. I put my foot down and I stopped eating unless I'm really hungry. That meant starting to eat earlier in the day to make sure taht I ate enough that day. I find if I eat properly during the day, I'm not dying of hunger later in the evening and I do ok.

Thanks lucky_rainboq, you have inspired me to do a juice fast. I'm starting today! I am drinking my morning juice as I type! So it's fine to have as much juice as my body needs, as long as I'm not consuming solids? Does doing a juice fast result in more energy or detox symptoms?
