Time to Detox

So those of you that have read some of my posts know that I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and I am under a chiropractor's care for it. So he thinks I am doing well with the raw foods and exercise and things are getting better, but I still need to do a detox due to the toxicity of my body. Which, in theory, sounds GREAT. In reality, I'm not sure I'm thrilled about it. I know it will be a good hting, I know he is right, and I don't have a fundamental issue with doing a detox. After all, I've gone mostly raw. How much harder can a detox be, right? So we look at the meal chart.... and it says day 1, eliminate processed foods and meat. Yeah, I've (basically) done that, no problem. Day 2, eliminate dairy and eggs. Um, well, I like raw cheese, but this is only for a few days. Ok. Day 3, eliminate gluten. Yup, already done that. Gee, this is a piece of cake! Day 4, eliminate all other grains as well as legumes, nuts and seeds. Wait a minute, NO NUTS AND SEEDS???? Are you kidding me???? for days on end????? Ok, so I start breathing again, and go to Day 5, which says.... eat only apples, pears, and leafy greens for 3 days. And i look at him and say, "and I'm going to feel A LOT better when I'm done, right? Cause if I don't, you are in big trouble"

So when I was done with my little temper tantrum, I decided I would in fact go through with this, and it wouldn't be THAT bad. And there are going to be great health benefits, both seen and unseen. And so now i have my body and mind in the right perspective to do this effectively. I've cleared myself of all doubt and negativity (important for me to succeed) and replaced it with the vision that I am healing myself in very specific ways.

Oh, and this goes along with a nutritional supplement that supports cleansing. And I'm seeing my chiro 3 times a week, not that I need to be that closely monitored to do this... I'm just needing to be adjusted that often anyway.

So.... for all of you that have done detox and cleansing before, any helpful advice would be great.... what things helped or didn't help, both in body and spirit. I would like to find something to focus my mind on, especially for the 3 days that I am consuming very little. I know meditation will be a good aid, but i feel like I need something else, and I can't quite put my finger on what. Does that make sense?

Thanks for all the great support here!

keep activity limited for those three days, but get outside and consider doing some of the fruit and veggies as juices or smoothies

good luck

Update

An update.... I went through a ten day detox, I am now done. As much as I understand why my Dr. wanted me to do it, I'm not sure it was beneficial for me. I suppose it could have been and I just didn't *see* it. But more than likely, when you are raw, it's a natural detox and there is no need for artificial ones. Maybe if I had gone raw through detox that would have been ok, but going from mostly raw to detoxing with a non-raw supplement that made up a lot of my calories.... well, it didn't work well for me. I got plugged up instead of having a smooth moving colon, I felt not just like I was detoxing, but REALLY HORRIBLE, food tasted nasty to me, and I gained 3 pounds. I went immediately back to raw and feel better again. I feel like detoxing took me 2 steps back from where I had gotten to. So now i know not to bother with it again.....
