I am still facing the uphill challenge. I can feel a lot of changes in my body. I find that Mondays are my hardest day to stay 100% and also in times of high stress...like now - 3papers due this week. procrastination is cruel!

Anyways, so in the last 3 days I feel dehydrated even though I have been drinking about 3.5 litres of water. My tongue absorbs the water and then its dry again. I feel like it has been hard to swallow everything and then I keep felling like I am going to throw up. I feel hot and cold. This morning I could not hold anything down and wasn't too hungry, but forced myself to eat for energy.

Warning I am about to get a little graphic in detail:

My urine has been golden yellow, if not darker whilst drinking all this water - should I be worried?

Thanks in advance. After Thursday my body can bring any forms cleansing. Bring it On!

Hi Anisha,

Wow, you sure are going through it!
I am certainly not a doctor and don't know what your history is and can't see you - but here are just some general information that I have that might help.

Even though you are drinking water your kidneys and cells might not be able to absorb it all. The body needs minerals to absorb water. That is why marathon runners have gotten very ill from bolting back too much water too fast. It can put stress on the kidneys. You are detoxing like crazy so you do need a great deal of water - but you NEED MINERALS and more specially salt in order to hold onto that water in your body. SEAWEEDS are a good source as is CELTIC SEA SALT. When I say Celtic Sea salt I mean just that and not plain sea salt or regular salt. It has to be a salt that is handraked from salt marshes so that the trace minerals will be intact.

To graphically address your graphic question - one reason that urine can get dark like that is when there are lots of toxins in the urine and kidneys are working overtime to get them out. Either you can slow down your detox a little or you can just power through, drinking lots of liquids and eating seaweed/salt. Cold and hot, feeling weak, throwing up - these are things that people report when detoxing - but that doesn't mean that you are detoxing. It's impossible to determine that over the internet and not always easy to do even in person. You might have a virus or some other sickness that corresponded with your eating live food. No one can tell you, but if it is just a simple detox you might want to get in a hot tub and put in some epsom or mineral salts. This helps pull the toxins out through the skin.

Oh, another all raw thing that might help is miso broth. It is very grounding and there are some misos that are made with celtic sea salt. I would suggest "sweet white" miso this time of the year and with what's happening. That might really settle your stomach.

Another herb that is fabulous for upset tummies is ginger tea. It's very gentle and all around good for you.

Forcing your body to eat solid food when you don't want it (if you are just detoxing) is something I wouldn't do. Instead I'd eat my foods liquidated in a blender or drink teas and soups.

Sure hope you feel better. Please let us know how things progress.

I feel yucky and haven't been doing so well lately. Along with the not eating thing, then when I do become hungry, I eat whats in sight or easy to eat. I am motivated and I do see the difference but there is something missing. I think I am going to make green smoothies again, that was the only thing that satisfied my sweet and salty needs. Thank you for reading and the support.

So I can absolutely relate to what you just went through. Because I am just at the end of a 4 day cooked food binge. blehck! I had been 100% raw for about 1 and half weeks. Everything was going fine. Yeah I was getting a little tired from the detoxing and I was eating more often to compensate for my off and on cooked food cravings, but I was still positive that I could continue with my raw endeavor.
But then I had a horribly stressful night and day where I ended up having to call the police because of a dispute at my house. I craved my old comfort stress food which was grabbing fast food-fast and easy. And then later I bought some cupcakes from the grocery store. I continued this for the next 3 or 4 days. I would only get fast food once a day and that's basically all I would eat during the day, but it made me feel like absolute crap-tired, bloated, slight acne. ehck! When I was a cooked fooder I wouldn't eat fast food everyday. I would normally actually eat pretty healthy compared to most people but when I would get stressed out every once in awhile I would go for the fast food.
And now after this 4 day experience I really understand what cooked food does to your body because I felt worse than I ever felt in my whole life. And I felt very angry and irritable. It was strange. It was almost as if my body was trying to get through to me how horendous cooked food really is for me.
So thanks for posting your story! It let me know that I'm not the only one who went through that.
Good luck in your journey!

I just wanted to add when I crave a hamburger, it helps if I eat spinach every day and almonds frequently. When I do that, I don't crave meat.

I'm not sure what it is, but I've noticed a lot of people, myself included, tend to break down around the 2-3 week mark!!!

Maybe instead of doing ALL raw at once, allow yourself some non-raw foods, but healthy!, for back-up when you get to this critical point.

It's too easy to run to bad foods when you are having bad cravings, but if you knew it would be tough around the 2-3 week mark and you had some healthy, but non-raw foods to get you through it...maybe ti would help!

Some people can go cold-turkey, but for most of us it is not that simple!

There is no right or wrong, or contest to who can do it quicker...so forgiving yourself for cheating is all you can do!

Our bodies are remarkable at healing-slipping up once, 2, 3 days, even for a week at a time is not ideal, but get back on that horse and do the best you can!

Your body will forgive you when you get back on track!

Anisha, without due respect for your unconfortable emotional experiences, being a vegan or vegetarian "is" not an easy task emotionally.
I know alot of people in this arena that are promoting this concept of raw foods etc. without taking into consideration each individuals emotional responces.
Please allow me to share some results and some emotional pains when we decide to change our food intake.
To change our food intake is like changing our emotional feelings from many past experiences.
I, quite often ask my self which one comes first, food or our emotions?
We eat what we eat, the way we eat because we were born in default.
There is a difference eating to satisfy hunger pains and eating to norish body mind connection.
The results being a vegan is exceptional if you have others to support you emotionally in you path of self discovery.
2.5 weeks is nothing in time to heal the body from many hunger pains.
Vegan or raw foods is not for everyone reason-we forget to take the following into consideration-emotions, mindbody-connection, do not have a support team, not known what to do by one self, no experience in food combining and finally neglect to recognise essential elements to sustain the physical body like essential proteins, fatty acids, enzymes etc. from the raw foods.
I have been a vegan for 25 years, and I can tell you, it can be very dificult if you have no support experienced friends that have done it.
Do not expect to have fantastic results all the way, it is not going to happen.
That is not how it works.
Stay there if you can, if not, you may have to have some physical guidance from closed friends to support you emotional transformation as you go along this path.
I am from Sydney Australia abroad.

Take good care

hello,

well i have been through this also, one thing i realized is that i don't have to be 100 percent 100 percent of the time, i often put regular jam or cream cheese on my raw crackers, if i feel like cheating i just do, when i am not tempted, i don't. i found that when i took the tension off myself to be perfect, my cravings lessoned, because i knew i could have them anytime. you know how you want what you can't have?..i iliminate this and play a mind game on myself and this turns things around for me.
