In terms of sleep usually between 5-8 hours. However, this week I have not been sleeping well overall.

I can't wait to be back home for such selfish reasons: to use the vita-mix, to go to costco, to go to whole foods, to visit some raw food cafes and to see my dog..

I was thinking about doing a juice fast this weekend from Friday to Sunday, I think that should help.

Sad to say, nothing is organic unless it says so. It's a selling point so they will always put that on the bottle if it is true.

Agave is a much better choice than maple syrup, but still, many consider it to be a processed sugar. I can't eat very much of the stuff without having the similar negative reactions in my body as I do to other sweeteners. I bring this up because it is still unclear why exactly it is that you are losing your appetite and if you eat so little to begin with, and exercise, it's pretty important for the calories that you do get to be rich in nutrients AND not spike the blood sugars. I know it's supposed to be low glycemic, but that isn't my experience when giving it to my diabetic and hypoglycemic family members. They still burn and crash from the stuff. Not as badly or fully as with sugar, but it's still surely a reaction.

On the same note, I don't understand why you would want to do a fast when your body is barely asking for food to begin with? Why force it??? It sounds more like you just need to set your intention on having fruit and good foods around, eating only when your body wants, and fasting only off the processed foods. Forced fasting is extreme on the body and if you are so tired from detoxing already it can make you even more tired. It sounds like what you really need is some rest. If some hours you only get 5 hours sleep when you are tired that is way too little. That's the kind of hours people that are in top shape can tolerate.

Not having my dogs around would be enough to make me feel ill. What kind of dog do you have? Are you at school or something Anisha? Where is home and why aren't you there???

May I ask you a personal question? Please feel free not to answer if you don't want to, but it will give me a better idea about your situation. Approximately how tall are you and how much do you weight?

Bikram yoga is extreme yoga. It burns lots of body fat, takes logs of energy reserves and uses up lots of body water - much as does jogging. I wonder how much body fat you have left to burn when not eating and doing such activities and not sleeping well. Knowing your weight and height will give me a little better picture.

Hey GB,

I didn’t think of the situation that way. Actually, I was thinking since I am not hungry that maybe my body was saying to do detox.

And the 5 hours, my body pops up and I am wide awake. But then during the day I don’t want to nap in fear that it will mess up my sleeping patterns. I should go to sleep earlier, I think that helped last time. However, when I wake up after 5 hours I don’t necessarily get out of bed, rather trying to get myself back to sleep although I know it won’t work.

I’ll be home in a month. I have been in Sydney since February studying abroad. Home is in the SF Bay Area. My dog…so uh when I adopted him they told me he is a Chihuahua and golden retriever mix.. Okay he’s tiny like a Chihuahua and golden-ish color… I’ll see if I can find a picture and send it.

I’ll answer the other questions in a private message.

Thanks GB!!

Yep, got that we all said - but hey - maybe your body doesn't want food - maybe it wants to rest. At least I meant not to force it to eat - but I wouldn't force it to fast either. I would just make sure that when it did want food it I gave it good food. Your body might just fast naturally. Your body might ask for juices. That would be listening to your body which I'm always for. Those bodies are so smart! The question is, if you got hungry and wanted to eat the apple instead of juicing it, would you?

Can't wait to see the picture of the Pooch!

Sydney. How cool. Are you liking it over there? What are you studying?

Yeah I would eat the apple or whatever fruit it was. I juice a lot, but not everything.

Yeah I like it here, I wish the weather would make up its mind. Similar to SF...indecisive weather.
I am studying cultural geography.

Oh okay so it goes by a couple names cultural and human..

Basically its in this concentration we study different countries, their history (briefly); past-present-future: economy, politics, globalisation. The well-off people and the impoverished ones. How they view themselves in the world, how westernised nations view them in the world. Where they are in the world.. Population growth and equilibrium; touch upon the environment. Pollution in terms of business. Human rights. -Pretty much a jumble of stuff!

And then I also study a little physical as well which is like land, water more of the environment.

That is a pretty large collection of subjects! Interesting. This sounds like a new expertise for the 21st century. What jobs correlate with such an education?

teaching, tourism industry, government, real estates, basically most industries...its a bit abstract, but its studying a little bit of everything on a larger scale. There are lists of industries that we can apply to, but I don't have the list with me.

So I am doing pretty well. I am between the 90-95% range and eating more. There are times when body is rejecting the idea of eating and I feed it a little and then let it go. Geez, I feel like I am feeding a fussy child, but in this case this fussy child isn't being fussy to be fussy rather it knows what it wants and being fussy is the only way it can express it. (=

I went to some raw talks this weekend to meet new people and get a feel of what people in the raw are saying. I don't necessarily have one path or believe there is one path to being raw and healthy. Maybe I will start a new thread later when I have a break from studying or energy to reflect on what I heard and write.
