Well it is not that popular here yet, but it is gaining attention. This month alone there have been quite a few speakers from the US such as Sergei Boutenko, Dr. Douglas Graham, and Matt Monarch and Angela Stokes. Aside from that there are no mainstream Aussies that are known.
It is more popular in Byron Bay which is now becoming commercialised, however, it is a bit more spunky and has its own vibe to the city. I like to think of it as Berkeley or SF with the environmentlists, liberal and everything inbetween. I haven't been there, but I gather that sense from what people tell me. More organic food as a whole up there and more health food stores as well. One of the guys I met this weekend was Anand who is the owner of
http://www.rawpower.com.au/
He was a really nice guy and the meeting was more of a discussion about his experiences and ours, rather than a lecture. He made a couple delicious goodies for us to try. Very Good!
He mentioned that he used to own a raw cafe and he met people that came to the cafe saying that they have been raw for years even 20years, but they keep to themselves mostly.
Anyways it was cool and I learned a lot. Some much information.
