smoothie fasting

so i've been detoxing but not as fast as i'd like. i think it's probably because of the nuts i've been eating in the recipes i've been making and i've been eating a lot of bananas. too many bananas to be exact. they make me feel a little acidic, definitely don't like that feeling. i've also been using agave nectar. i really need to stop that too. i think it's making me want sugar more than if i wasn't using it.
i was thinking i might just make green smoothies for about a week or so to speed up the detoxing process. i was pretty thin to begin with so this is not about losing weight. i'm just trying to get out all those toxins that have built up in me over the years from eating cooked food and maintain a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life. and i know it takes a couple years at least for the whole detox to finish, but i'm just saying right now i'd like to speed it up.
so i was wondering is there anything i should know about just drinking green smoothies for a week? Because i don't have a book on it or anything, but I assume it's not that much different than just eating a regular raw diet. right? no? thanks so much. happy days.

Sounds like a great idea although wouldn't be called a fast, as a fast is an absense of food and drink besides water.

What people call that is a diet. I went on a 7 day banana diet, where I ate nothing but bananas.

Likewise there is a 92 day juice feast that many people do. They drink about a gallon of various juices, so they meet their calorie quota but they aren't actually fasting.

I don't think you can eat too many bananas, matter fact that's all I eat every day, about 20 to 30 of them with apples here and there, then a big giant green salad for dinner.I do this daily, and bananas are alkaline not acidic.Use lemons in your smoothies, they're great cleansers

well i don't know. something about bananas makes me not feel good if i eat more than about 3 in a day. that's all i know. thanks for the tip about the lemon juice. i think one of you wrote that tip in another thread because when i was at the store yesterday picking up some produce for the smoothies i remembered that they were good cleansers so i picked up a bag of them. so i guess thank you to you roadrunner and thank you to the other mysterious person that i can't remember.

-quick question you wrote lemons not lemon juice do you mean put a piece of a lemon in the smoothie or do you mean squeese the juice of the lemon into a smoothie. or if both ways are acceptable which do you prefer?

Lemons

Hey Rawitup,
You want to speed up the detox do the master cleanse.
There is a support forum you can use that I used when I did it.
I did it for 14 days and it helped me quite a bit. I felt great afterwards, AND during. Heres the forum:
http://www.curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=478
The minimal is 10 days but it is easy, after 3 days you total have NO HUNGER! Your body can totally clean house. You use lemons, organic maple syrup, and cheyanne pepper.
Or you can do the 3 day apple fast which I am going to do this weekend, here are the instructions:
http://www.astrodreamadvisor.com/Body_Apple_Fast.html
I cant wait to do this apple fast.
And by the way, if youre just drinking green smoothies, or just eating one thing like bananas, or apples, etc, that is technically a fast as long as its just ONE thing and nothing else and thats called MONO FASTING.Like for example if you eat nothing but bananas for 7 days or 3 days etc and nothing thats called banana mono fasting, smae with green smoothies or apples etc. so you can technically FAST on green smoothies as long as you dont EAT anything and just drink the smoothie. It isnt as quick as water fasting or not eating at all but it is a FAST when you do this, what youd be doing is a mono green smoothie fast, just like juice fasting only with the pulp, its just a slower process. I have had much better experience with short term 2 to 3 day fasts than longer term ones. Matter fact i fast each weekend for 36 to 72 hours. friday thru sunday.then break the fast with a big green salad and lemon squeezed on it is all. and lemons in general are great for cleansing. Hope this helps!

awesome. i think i might try a 3 day mono fast of some kind a few days from now. cause i just drank green smoothies today and well it was nice and it sped up my detox a little bit, but i can definitely tell it's not as fast as i'd like it to be so i think i'll keep drinking mostly green smoothies for a few days until i use up the food that i bought and then i might try some kind of fruit fast for a few days and see how that works out. but anyways thanks for your ideas and the links roadrunner-definitely is giving me some things to think about and thanks for your response too double helix! catch ya on the flip side!--i'm sorry i don't know why i just wrote that ...it just ummm ...came out.
