Fasting by default?

I have found the last couple days I really don't want to eat much, I don't have an appetite. Even when I feel hungry, I only eat a few forkfulls of food and then I'm full. What has been ordinarily breakfast and a snack is what I eat all day long. It has been an abrupt change.

I feel hungry, to a degree, but I do not feel interested in eating food.

Should I worry about this?

Should I do a more controlled fasting?

Also, I've been dreaming of eating fruit, plums specifically. Normally I do not eat fruit because of the shock to my blood sugar and horrible negative mental impact. But maybe I should eat fruit because I'm dreaming about it?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are you active?

Fruit is really our natural food, that is why most people have "sweet tooths" but then they end up eating candy or baked goods instead of fruit. Fruit provides essential vitamins and carbohydrates to properly fuel a body.

I know how you feel about fruit and I think you'll be okay with a small amount of fruit...

IF you aren't eating a lot of fat before or during the fruit.

AND there isn't a lot of fat in your system from the day before.

AND eating the fruit in the morning or before anything else.

Just take it slow and experiment. No need to rush it.

I really think you'll be able to eat a lot of fruit one day and not have those problems, as long as you aren't overdoing the fat, like in your salads.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Well, the question was really about the fasting and lack of interest in food, more than the fruit. I know how you feel about fruit.

Should I be worried that I'm not interested in eating food, and eating only extremely tiny amounts? Is this normal?

I asked if you are active because if you aren't active then you probably aren't hungry. Usually when people are very active their bodies require more food to refuel.

Also when people are not feeling well, many times their body tells them that it doesn't want to be fed. In your case there is probalby some detox and need of healing going on.

So, are you active?

And are you getting enough rest?

Oh, I understand now.

No, for private and doctor understood reasons I cannot be very active right now. I have not been able to be active in a long while, and it will be a long while more before I can be active again.

I am also undergoing and intense and massive healing both for those private reasons, as well as for things like the detox people experience when going raw.

For rest, I do sleep many hours, but do not feel rested. In fact, when it was time to get up today I broke into tears because I'm so profoundly exhausted. I do take it easy during the day, spending much of the time resting, but I always long for night-time when I can sleep.

But sleep is not very restful. As part of the healing process I had many nightmares, and lately I'm having what I call "active" dreams. Normal dreams you're here, there, surroundings switching in an instant, in a way that makes sense within the dream but does not happen in waking life.

My dreams are very much like waking life. In a normal dream where food might instantly appear, in my dreams I get dressed, put on shoes, walk to the store, go shopping, pay for groceries, walk back home, unload the groceries, prep the food, etc.

This is not my actual dream, just an example. My dreams are deep, far-reaching, profound, and very, very active. Just as a for-instance one of my dreams last night I spent 2 hours at a gym with a personal trainer, a trainer who specializes in working with professional athletes. I have never trained so hard in my life!!! And that was just one part of dozens of dreams I had just last night.

Oh, yeah, and while I'm sleeping deeply having these dreams, I can also wake in a second. I wake many, many times during the night for the slightest sound or movement, even smells. My BF rolls over and I'm awake, the cats walk in the bedroom and their claws tapping on the floor wakes me. But then 10 seconds later I'm zonked back out, deep in yet another nightmare or active dream.

I hope that helps.

It does sound like your body needs to heal via less food and more rest.

I have heard at some fasting retreats people sleeping for 36 hours straight. Only getting up to drink some water and go to the bathroom.

Hopefully as you go along in your journey, your body will be able to get a more peaceful and quality sleep.

If you aren't hungry, that's your signal not to eat. For some reason I thought you had to eat every few hours for your blood sugar, but maybe your body is healing itself from that, which is a good thing. We should only eat when hungry. It's a bad habit to get out of as many of us eat for recreation or boredom or cravings, and not true hunger.

True hunger is supposed to be a feeling in the throat, similar to thirst and not a feeling in the stomach, so you'll know when your body is telling you to eat.

I hope you can get in some light activity, even if it is very small amount of rebounding or short walks outside in the fresh air. Your hunger may return after that and sufficient rest.

Yeah, normally I do need to eat every couple hours, but David Wolfe said that those things he told me to eat would help with my hypoglycemia, so perhaps it is. But I'm also wondering if I have a mild case of low-blood sugar because I'm not eating much at all.

I do know sometimes if I start not eating enough then I don't feel hungry, it's like my body gives up trying to get my attention. But then I feel tired and blah all the time, but when I eat a full day's worth of food I feel revived.

I do know I'm very tired, and I'm also getting all the exercise I can - in fact I've probably been pushing it lately. Going for a walk sounds so simple ... but it's not that simple or possible for everyone.

It's good to hear about people sleeping 36 hours. I feel like I could really use that!!! But BF works from home, and between BF being awake & up, his clients coming over, and playful cats, sleep is not much of an option. Unfortunately!

I can't begin to tell you what I would do to get some sleep!

Oh, I also noticed that when I woke up, I realy wanted to have breakfast, but BF wanted to use the blender first, then wash it for me as I cannot do that. So, over two hours later and the blender was still not washed. By the time he got it washed I just stopped caring about eating and now I don't care if I don't eat all day.
