liver cleanse...

so i saw a nutrional blood analyst the other day and to no one's surprise, i was quite healthy. he did however notice that my liver was a little stressed and recommended a liver cleanse. does anyone know what exactly that entails? this guy doesn't sell any product, so i know he wasn't feeding me a line of bull, as he would have nothing to gain personally if i did a cleanse or not. i have never done a cleanse before and do not know anything about them. do i need to stay close to a bathroom? is it in powder, pill, or liquid form? how long does it go on? what brands are best? you know, the important questions.
is anyone able to help me out here?
thanks
peace

Liver Cleanse

You can do a search for a liver cleanse or I can scan the one I have to you.

The guy that tested my blood also had me do this particular liver cleanse. It consisted of epsom salts, distilled water, olive oil, and lemon or grapefruit. To be honest, it's absolutely awful! But it was worth it. I felt a lot better after it was all over and am able to process protein more efficiently.

I passed a lot of stones, which was surprising. You'll want to stay home near a bathroom for the next day and be able to rest. The first day I think you either fast or have a small breakfast. That evening you take doses of the salts and water and also oil and lemon. The same goes for the next morning and that day you'll have diarrhea. The day after that I was fine and started to feel good.

It doesn't sound very appealing, I know. But do search for it online so that you can read all the benefits. Let me know if you have any other specific questions

You don't have to go through all that if you are raw foodist and your diet is cleansing your liver already. All you need to do is support it with herbs. There is an herb called Milk Thistle. It is a miracle for the liver. It can regenerate the liver after degeneration from alcoholism and it can prevent a poisonous snake bit from killing you because the toxins are processed through the liver. I am so into doing things the easy, happy, safe and comfortable way. Milk Thistle is that way. Nutrition and support. That's the ticket. Give the liver what it needs to be super strong and healthy, don't put anything in to stress it out and make it work too hard and it will get rid of what's blocking it in its own wise and wonderful way. There are some nice mixes of herbs that support the liver put together in pill form. I like one called "liver cleanse" by Solray. When trying to give my liver extra support - like after I was stung by a poisonous bug - I would just take milk thistle in higher dosage than on the bottle. No matter what you take start out slow and work your way up. Take less than it says to on the bottle. If you have serious liver toxicity it might start to dump fast and you do want to go slow. Be nice to your body and give it time to release. No need to set off any bombs or get yourself detox sick or stay close to the bathroom. It's much better for you to go slow and be nice to your all important and powerful liver.

milk thistle

Ok Greenbunny,
I was wanting to do a liver cleanse but since you mentioned the milk thistle being the easy route how is it done? How much milk thistle do I need and how many days and how much do you take etc?? Also is there anything wrong with fasting on green smoothies? just drinking deep greens, kinda like the mono only mixing greens with say apples which are very cleansing and only drinking the smoothies for however many days youre fasting? To me it dont matter if you put it in your mouth chew it up or blend it and drink it it all goes to the same place chewed or blended and blended is far better than chewed if youre like me and eat like a starving dog sometimes, lol!! I was actually thinking on doing a green fast for a week, just drinking smoothies works the same as the mono, the mono youre still technically "eating" just one thing well the green smoothie is basically liquid with the exception of the pulp in there. I dont have a juicer yet but plan on getting one first of next year maybe a champion? I was gonna get the jack lalaine one but I hear the champion is best but for now the smoothies seem like a good nurishment.Whatever ideas I come up with I just take them in stride and do them one at a time and so far theyre all beneficial to me.

Hi Roadrunner. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth juicer is the one I got and it was only like $60.00 at Walmart. I was told that its the best "cheap juicer" around-for those of us who can't afford a Champion juicer which I think is a couple hundred bucks. It works GREAT. I use it several times a day and have juiced everything you can imagine in it without any problems.

Roadrunner - if you plan on using an appliance to "eat your food" instead of "eating like a starving dog" (that brought up and amusing image in my mind of my beagle – I have to feed her with a fork or she just inhales her food in less than a second) I would use predominantly a blender as you will still get the bulk of the fiber in your fruits. The veggies will have to be juiced unless you have a big strong high powered blender like the vitamix or blendtec (blendtec is cheaper but not cheap by any means - but worth it!!!). The thing about eating your food instead of blending or especially juicing it is that your body takes longer to break down the food and get the food through the digestive system. That fiber actually gives your intestines a good workout. Many people take fiber because it's so good for you - but fruits and veggies come complete with this wonderful fiber. You can buy apple pectin in pills to keep you regular or you can just eat apples and get all the nutrients and vitality that comes with a raw apple. Roadrunner, you seem to really need lots of food for your weight and lifestyle so I can see why you would especially want to make smoothies … and juices can be just delicious and wonderful and you seem to really need the calories and energy. I bought a great juicer but it was a couple of hundred dollars. I rarely use it but use my blender constantly. I'll tell you the name of the juicer if you are interested. If I could miraculously teleport one item to your kitchen regardless of expense Roadrunner, it would be a Vitamix. You would have a great time with that! I do bleieve that the folks that make green smoothies do it all in a vitamix.

As for Milk Thistle. It’s real easy. You get a bottle of capsules and take one a day for a while to make sure it doesn’t have some weird affect and increase it slowly until you are taking the amount the bottle tells you to. You keep on taking it forever or until your body seems not to want it anymore. Milk thistle will support your liver with nutrition helping fortify and rebuild it. You don’t use it like the other cleanses. You don’t expect to feel something big or impressive. You don’t need to overdo it or take more than prescribed. It’s gentle. It’s a long – term nutrtional journey. You could also be more natural and make tea or tincture – but that’s too much work and fuss for me and I don’t like the taste much. I’d rather just pop a capsule.

If you get stung by a snake or a black widow spider or brown recluse (like I did) then you keep popping milk thistle capsules in your mouth and take apis homeopathic remedy 30C, call 911, and sit or lie still and calm and breath slowly so the poison moves through your system slower and then pray! You might find it strange that I would take the milk thistle and apis before calling 911 – but that’s how much I believe in those things to make all the difference between living or not. (This in itself should be enough to prove that I am not a doctor). Because I had taken apis for another bite just before getting bit by the recluse and because I took so much milk thistle and I went to an acupuncturist… instead of eating away the flesh of my arm the big round circle of red and characteristic pustule just disappeared… and fairly quickly at that. The liver has to process toxins (along with it’s many other miracles it performs daily) and a gentle continual nutritional supplement like milk thistle can really help the body overall – like eating your raw veggies and fruits daily. Milk Thistle has been proven scientifically to rebuild dead liver tissue in alcoholics.

Well, that’s enough. I’m stepping off my milk thistle soap box. Hope that answered your questions.

Cheerio,
Greenbunny
