Interview with a Breatharian

1. What is a breatharian?

It is a person who does not need to ingest any
kind of food, be it in either solid or liquid state
for physical sustenance since the body has re-learnt
to derive its sustenance from its natural
surroundings. More on that in the answers that
follow...

2. How old are you? What is your height and weight?

I will turn 43 on June 12. I am 5'11' tall and weigh 148
stable pounds.

3. How did you become a breatharian?

I started the process of changing my body's
metabolism on March 2003. My diet in the beginning
consisted of raw salads, fruits and fruit juices,
nuts, and the occasional pasta. In order to give my
body the time needed to adjust itself to the ever
changing conditions, I very slowly and gradually
diminished the amount of food intake as well as the
variety of foods so that I could transition smoothly
into becoming a liquidarian. Again, by very slowly
diluting my drinks I finally reached the physical
condition where the presence of any foreign substance in my body was no longer required. Since September 2005 I have been living as a breatharian.

4. Would you recommend becoming a breatharian to others? What are the benefits?

I recommend the breatharian lifestyle to those
who sincerely aspire to live a very long, vital and
healthy life, a clear mind and more acute senses, to
those who value that enough to pay the price that it
takes by walking the long path that leads to that end,
and to those whose reasons are legitimate and based
upon a conscious choice.

It is great not to have to worry about making
money to buy food, spend the time to prepare it, wash the dishes and finally dump the waste matter in the toilet, thereby giving out contribution to polute the environment. What further benefits may follow on a physical and mental level as a result of such a
lifestyle I am not aware of, though I have read all
kinds of statements made by so-called spiritual
leaders...

5. Where do you get your nourishment ( minerals,
vitamins, protein.. ) How are you still alive?

Good one Alex <smiles>. This is one of those
crucial questions involving breatharianism. When the
physical body frees itself from the need to obtain
stimulus from food, its natural ability to obtain its
nourishment directly from natural sources is
reactivated. It is common knowledge that matter is
nothing more than energy in a highly condensed state
and that our planet is constantly being bombarded by
cosmic rays. Such rays are picked up by our
chromosomes and transformed into vital electric
currents and condensed into the various minerals and
vitamins. The cells of our body are sustained by
these minerals and they manufacture all their
constituents from cosmic rays. It is worth mentioning
that, for some reason that escapes my understanding,
despite the presence of food in the body, it somehow
retained the ability to condense vitamin D from solar
rays. Lastly, the nitrogen in the air is transformed
into protein in the body. The protein, like everything
else that is ingested, never becomes part of the body.
Food is a vice, it only provides the stimulus the body
adjusted itself to, it does not become part of the
body's constitution and leaves it just as fast as it
entered, the only difference is that it leaves the
body in the form of putrid matter...

6. Do you crave or miss food?

I do not feel hunger since it is caused by the
presence of toxins in the body. Once in a while
though I catch myself thinking how nice it would feel
to eat some cheese along with some chips... So I guess I should say that I have not entirely eradicated from my cellular memory the old pleasure of tasting, though it is much weaker now and easier to keep under control. You should remember that this is a fairly recent process that I went through and so I am still adapting myself both physically and psychologically to the total absence of food, therefore the occasional thoughts of an old habit that I kept for almost my entire life.

7. Do you exercise?

God, I really hoped you would ask me that one!
<smiles> . Yes, I have for many years been into
fitness. I do enjoy both the pleasure of exercising
and, admittedly enough, the looks of an athletic body.
I go to the gym twice a week and I have very long
weight-lifting routines. It is worth mentioning here
that I do not experience fatigue and I could just go
on and on. I jog once a week, and again, I can do that for a long time. I am thinking to soon put myself to test and find out where my limit is. In any case, I
always make sure never to overdo my exercises and
expose my body to unnecessary strains of any kind.

8. Do you drink any water? If so, what kind?

About a glass of bottled water every day
depending on how moist the air is, I would assume.
Distilled water is the best kind for the human body
though.

9. Do you have any bowel movements? Do you get sick often?

I do not have any bowel movements and I cannot
remember the last time I was sick.

10. Have you ever been checked out by a doctor?

I cannot remember the last time I went to a
doctor, perhaps some time in my childhood if ever.
Since I now enjoy perfect health I do not see why I
should visit one.

11. Do you brush your teeth? Do you use any kind of soap or shampoo when showering?

I brush my teeth twice a day , I use regular
toothpaste and organic body wash and hand soap.

12. Have you met any other breatharians?

I have never met any nor do I look for those,
though I am sure that it would be a unique opportunity to share thoughts and experiences with a true breatharian and connect with someone who knows what it entails to follow this path.

13. Do you save a lot of money by not eating?

Yes! Is that not just great?!

14. What do you think about raw diet (eating mainly raw and living fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds) ?

The less harmful food for the human body are raw
nuts and fresh fruits, specially the berries, melons
and... the divine orange, queen of all fruits! They
contain the best and purest fluid distilled by natural
processes. Also, fruits and nuts are the foods in
nature that contain in a minimum amount calcarious
earthly matter, which are present in the soil,
vegetables and table salt. The vegetarian has grown
vain in his conceit because he thinks that he has
found dietetic perfection and that his diet puts him
ahead of the flesh eater. Records indicate, however,
that the average life-span of a vegetarian is not
above that of the average carnivorian. Frutarians are
winners!

15. Any final words? Will you be writing in more
detail about your experience for others to learn more about breatharianism?

Alex, there is of course a wealth of information
that is left unsaid in this interview. I do not make
plans to write a book but I have been playing with the
idea of putting together a personal website in order
to expose more thoroughly both the subject and my
personal experience from a scientific standpoint. I
must stress that before embarking on this adventure I
did quite a lot of research from non-mainstream
literary sources, of course, on good nutrition and on
how to live, and that eventually led me to my final
destination. I have had the chance to read all kinds
of disparities from people who claim to have attained
certain physical states that allow them to live
completely without any food by undergoing a few days' fasting, breatharians who claim to have been assigned a spiritual mission among mankind with the help of angels , and so forth... For those of you who would like me to strongly recommend a good book, one of those that shed so much light into my life and set me on the right path to attain my goal is entitled "Man's Higher Conscience" by Dr. Hilton Hotema. I sincerely hope that those who are new to breatharianism and are on the quest for some enlightenment on the subject will not be so unlucky as I was to come across Jasmusheen's writings when I first set out to look for in-depth, scientific and realistic information. Remember that the evolutionary and adaptive processes taking place in Nature are slow and gradual. It is at least naive to conceive that the habit of eating, so deeply rooted in our cellular memory as well as in our emotional and mental dispositions can be completely eradicated from our system in a matter of a few weeks or months ( and most certainly not in 21 days... ), save the possible rare exceptions out there..

Is it possible for any one to become a breatharian? Absolutely yes! Is it easy to get there? Absolutely not! It does require a significant amount of discipline, determination, patience and time! All allied with a strong belief that food is an illusion and one of mankind's oldest vices. And do not forget some self-lenience now and then...
