You are right roadrunner that fasting does heal... sometimes amazingly so... it's just very intense for someone so sick and a bit different for someone undergoing chemotherapy than a person not facing that. When some of the guys came back from Vietnam and many years later fasted and lost a lot of weight quickly some of them died because the agent orange that was stored in their fat cells was released. When someone has been exposed to extremely toxic substanced the body stores them and part of the power of fasting is how it releases those stored toxins out of the body. The problem is that when someone is reallly debilitated from a sickness detoxing and losing weight quickly can sometimes be more detrimental than beneficial and I was just trying to suggest to Tam that fasting might not be her best option at the present (from the way she described her condition). For others it is just what the doctor ordered - although not necessary for detoxification. The real benefit of fasting is how it gives the digestive system a complete and absolute rest. This can be incredibly healing at the right time and place.

I also just wanted to make sure that people know that maple syrup is not a live food. You would be surprised how many people think that it is and how many raw food products it is added to. Maple syrup, while rich in some nutrients, has been heated at high temperatures and often times even the organic syrups are questionable as to methods of extraction. To let the syrup drip slowly out of the tree is extremely time consuming and expensive. There are some truly organic brands I hear and some that are still not so great. I haven't done research on this topic for many years at this point so hopefully you have found one of the really good brands.

I love eating mono but usually do it in mono meals rather than mono days. Usually 2 of my meals a day are mono meals (or almost )

Cheerio,
