Must chime in here that maple syrup is not raw, is a simple sugar and is most times laced with very toxic substances to get it out of the tree in financially feasible ways.

I have known many people to get sick in the long term on this particular fast... so be careful. If it is your first attempt in cleansing/fasting the more prudent imho would be to juice fast as you will get a much broader array of nutrients without the potential toxicity and be moving more towards raw.

We are very addicted to simple sugars in our society and this fast appeals to many because it provides the constant sugar fix that most people need.

Raw lemon on the other hand is a great lymphatic cleanser and cayenne pepper is an amazing herb. You don't necessarily need to fast however to get the benefit of these amazing foods.

Raw foods give the ultimate rewards that fasting will give without the downsides in my experience.

Btw, I have done most fasts and... for me, the Master Cleanse done after being raw felt more like going backwards than going forward. If you are eating all junk to begin with, well, then any fast would be better including this one because it stops the onslaught of toxic cooked foods. There are much better choices though. The best choice I have found is to eat all raw and then see if you still need/want to fast, and if you do, then pick something raw to fast on.

Particularly for you Tammy, with what you are fighting right now, it is my unprofessional, but logical opinion that what you need is tremendous nutrition rather than fasting and after going through chemo and such fasting could make you detox those chemicals too fast without the strength that good food would give you to fight off the effects of that detox. Smoothies and juices and good raw whole foods in my most humble opinion would be far superior for you than doing a fast - especially the Master Cleanse. There have been some great stories I've heard and read of people fighting cancers with raw foods and juices. Fasting seems just too extreme for someone in your condition. You need to keep your strength up. Varied Juices and smoothies will get you more nutrition, enzymes and life force faster and eating raw foods when you are hungry will keep you more stabilized in your body than liquids alone. I'm concerned about you undertaking any kind of fast unless you feel very drawn to it/guided to it as it were, and even then, I would make it a fast filled with tremendous raw, live food nutrition. If you were to fast, you would need someone with you to make sure that you were getting as much fresh juice as you wanted and to watch over you. When even a healthy person fasts they can get light-headed and tired, so for you particularly, I would suggest having someone monitoring such an activity so that you could fully rest during such a cleanse. But first choice - eat if you like - whole healthy raw foods and add lots of juice and smoothies to your eating. This will keep your bowels moving, and the toxins coming out.
