yeah, going away you will have to try a bit harder than your companions to find a solid meal, but it really depends on the country. almost all towns and cities i've been to boast a couple of juice bars, and some even have raw restaurants. you run the risk (as i did) as not eating correctly and not getting a full nutritional spectrum, but as long as it isn't an extra long (i'm talking 3-4 month) trip then you should be fine. and always remember if you find yourself uncomfortably hungry going away because there is no raw food available, it is better to cheat and get back on track later then not enjoy your trip.
and restaurants (unless they are raw, of course) are also tricky, i usually stick with salad and bring my own dressing and then eat fruit salad. i wish i could offer you more in this section, but hey here's hoping restaurants will catch on and have more raw sections? on the bright side at the end of your meal you won't have to unbutton your pants and complain about how full you are.
as for expense, keep in mind that in the long run you are saving so much money from painkillers, allergy medicine, doctors, hospital bills, surgeries, pharmaceuticals, etc. but immediate cost is hard to avoid. try growing some of your own food if the climate is right, setting up a garden is fun and also happens to be great exercise. also, distinguish between the foods you absolutely must buy organic (think thin skinned things like berries, apples, peppers, etc.) and those that are ok conventional (avocados, melons i think, etc.)
i find that the most expensive part of a raw diet are not the raw ingredients but gourmet raw food, which is far less expensive (and very fun) to prepare yourself. although keep in mind a simple diet with gourmet foods only occasionally is most healthful.
