as a matter of fact i had the same question myself...so i looked into it. from what i can gather, the rice is heated above cooking temperatures at one point during the process, hence cooked...unfortunately.
somehow, though, this doesn't seem to stop me from eating them!!!
if anyone knows any differently, please let me know.
