Yes, my husband asks for "a big salad" often. He is supportive of me.

Meals usually center on what the "baby" wants - my last one at home - 15 1/2 years old. I'll make what he wants, enough of it to feed my in-and-out tribe, and make myself something seperately. The "boys" (however many of them there are in the house at that moment, could be our 24 year old, or our 18 year old, and my husband) will grab something whenever they get home from what I make the youngest. If my husband is home at the time I am cooking, he will state how much of which he wants - usually some of mine and some of theirs.

I tried for years to "sneak stuff in" but they got so sick and tired of it, and I was worn out from the battle. It really wore on our relationships. I don't even bother any more. I'm not going to change. They know they can have anything of mine that they want, at any time. And I'll be happy to share.

It just a peaceful coexistance at this point.

By the way, I should add that I am not 100% raw, like I was for years and years. It was just TOO HARD on my family. I'm about 80%+ somedays better than others. But never below that point.

And I'm not a vegan. Or even a vegetarian. Approximately 1% of my diet is meat. Less than 5% is dairy products. Most days, an organic, free ranged egg is about as extreme as I get. But I leave the door open, for the sake of my family, just in case I have to join them for something that offers no other options.

And I do not call myself a raw foodist any longer. I am revolted by the rawer-than-thou attitude I find so prevelant in the community. I think of myself as practiciing natural hygiene. I try to stay upwards of 80% alkaline, eat a massive ton of greens, eat fruit for breakfast EVERY day without fail. And leave a little wiggle room for life to happen.

My family means more to me than a diet.

THAT'S LOVE.
